One thing i have realized after these recent wars is that indian people are not mature enough for war. They are not ready to accept losses or the realities that come with war. People tend to expect a clear victory without any setbacks but losses are unavoidable parts of war. Both sides experience them, what ultimately matters is who achieves their end goal and emerges victorious.

I have seen many indians (especially some leftists) mocking the indian govt and army and its success during Op Sindoor. Even some neutrals and right wing ppl seem to have been influenced into believing that india didnt perform as expected. Because of this, i believe many indians are not mentally prepared for war. This is why the govt is right in handling issues carefully rather than engaging in prolonged wars with hostile neighbors.

Many self proclaimed patriots on social media say things like just take back PoK, teach bangladesh a lesson, or take back siachen from china. However, they forget that even smaller nations (ofc not referring to china here) fight as if everything is at stake when their existence is threatened. If india enters a full fledged war, it will also face significant losses and people may not be able to accept that reality.

No one expected iran to resist the way it has yet it continues to fight even after losing key leaders. Ukraine has also stood strong against russia (with NATO’s support, ofcourse). So i believe even weaker or unstable nations can fight fiercely against india and india would inevitably suffer losses even if it ultimately secures a major victory. The problem is that people may not be able to accept those losses.

Israel also faces losses but its people largely stand with the country. Iran is suffering heavy damage, yet people cannot openly speak against the regime (even though many oppose regime and support israel). Afghan citizens will never criticize taliban when facing defeats and even in pak, people seldom speak openly against the military establishment.

In contrast, india is a democracy, so even small losses leads to major public outcry, even if the country ultimately achieves its objectives. That is exactly what happened last year during Op Sindoor.

So i believe the indian govt is smart to avoid wars as much as possible and instead focus on development and global partnerships. At present, that seems to be the most practical and beneficial path for india.

UN seeking Iran access to investigate deadly school strike--------

A member of the United Nations Iran fact-finding mission says investigators are seeking access to the site of a deadly strike on a school carried out at the beginning of the conflict.

Max du Plessis says the UN has credible reports at least 168 people were killed in the strike, in Minab in southern Iran, and the majority were female students - many as young as seven-years-old.

Du Plessis says the UN is trying to find out who is responsible, what the reason for the attack was, and what the legal consequences, "if any", may be.

"We're in the early stage of the investigation," he says.

The US is carrying out its own investigation into the strike, and du Plessis says while the team hasn't yet spoken to anyone from the US, they would welcome any information provided, though stresses the UN's "independent" obligation to determine the facts.

"We've requested access to Iran and we'll continue to seek that access," he says.

War has almost always brought devastation, loss, and unresolved wounds, but it hasn’t produced outcomes. In some cases, it has forced an end to something even more destructive!!

Take World War II, for instance. It caused unimaginable suffering, yet it also led to the defeat of fascist regimes and eventually the creation of institutions like the United Nations, built to prevent future global conflicts. Similarly, the American Civil War resulted in the abolition of slavery in the United States, something that peaceful negotiation had failed to achieve for decades.

That said, even when wars produce outcomes, they rarely solve the deeper human problems. They often replace one set of injustices with another, leaving behind grief, trauma, and instability that lasts generations. smiley19

Across centuries, wars have been waged in the name of religion, land, wealth, power, and control. Yet, even when they claim victory, they never deliver true solutions, only scars, unanswered questions, and generations burdened by loss. Perhaps the real lesson history offers is this.... force and war may compel submission, but it can never create harmony. Only peace carries the wisdom of “live and let live,” a truth humanity continues to learn, often too late.

@bold I agree but this idea only works when all parties actually believe in and follow the principle that "only peace carries the wisdom of live and let live." In reality, that level of mutual understanding is rare.

Also the reasons behind war are far more complex than they appear on the surface. Its easy to ask, why are they fighting?? Cant they just live in peace?? but that overlooks the deeper forces at play. Wars are often driven by survival, and at times by greed.

When one region has abundant resources while another struggles to sustain itself, inequality creates pressure. For those lacking resources, war can become a desperate means of survival rather than a choice. At the same time, there are nations (USA, China) that pursue wars not out of necessity but out of ambition and greed, seeking to expand their power and control even when they already have more than enough.

In modern times, wars are usually a combination of both greed and long term strategic concerns, such as securing resources for future generations. Whereas ancient wars were more directly tied to survival and resource imbalance between regions.

Ultimately wars are unavoidable part of existence. As long as living beings exist, whether humans or animals competition for survival will be there and so will violence in one form or another.
