For certain Hindu Hawan / Pooja’s.. a married couple in the house needs to sit.. while for others like house warming.. a young unmarried son or daughter can sit for Hawan / Pooja.. but if the young son is married, then the married couple ie son & his wife sits for Hawan / Pooja.
Mihir Tulsi are legally divorced. Damini isn’t present or shown in the house. OR maybe Gautam Damini arrived late and it’s already muhurat time for Pooja.. OR Gautam came alone and Damini didn’t come at all.
How can a married man Gautam sit alone for the Hawan if the requirement would have been that a married couple should sit for Pooja!
The only legally married couples physically present in the house at that time are: KN and AV.
I think, @EkPaheli can throw more light on Pooja / Hawan as I understand that she has better knowledge in rituals, horoscope, etc than me.
Hmm… this is a nuanced subject and the answers to it depends on the family in question, the local traditions of their ancestors and more importantly the intent of the Pooja itself. There are certain traditions wherein a married person cannot sit for a Pooja of any kind alone regardless of their gender but there are similarly Poojas where a single man or woman can sit. The same also applies to Havans.
I think this Pooja is perhaps meant for the wedding itself. It maybe the Ganesh Pooja, a common tradition across India before any new beginnings and this one may be specifically meant to bless the couple about to be married. Which means that any Pooja or Havan conducted for the same would need a married couple to perform the ceremonies and rituals as the parents of the bride and groom to be.
Now if that’s the case, it maybe possible that the family is organising the Pooja and Hawan twice over. One from the groom’s family and the other from the bride’s side. The rituals may differ in the way they’re performed considering that Munni is a Sinha so she likely hails from UP, Bihar or Jharkhand. The Viranis are obviously hailing from Gujarat and Kutch in particular.
As a Sinha, Munni may even do Chatthi Maa Pooja as a married woman, which happens when Dakshinayan sets in aka the tradition of doing a Pooja of the setting sun on the last day of Uttarayan. Kutchis and Gujaratis don’t do it, neither is there a tradition of Karwa Chauth amongst us. But it’s now done by some thanks to Bollywood.
Tulsi is getting Munni married as a daughter, but she’s not just divorced but she’s also technically the groom’s mother and therefore can’t do the rituals of the marriage that one would for a daughter as that would be err… rather incestous.
Mihir similarly is single now and even if the divorce hadn’t happened the situation may have remained the same - Tulsi refusing to sit down with Mihir for any Pooja when their relationship itself has gone for a toss.
So it’s quite possible that Karan Nandini are stepping in for the Pooja as Munni’s parents and will do the required rituals where a married couple is needed for the ceremony. Technically it can also be the inverse since Karan shares a relationship with Hrithik twice over courtesy of being his older cousin via Mandira too but I think it’s not happening. Not when Mihir and Tulsi are aware now of Gautam’s resentment towards Karan. They would know that doing this would mean making things worse when they might be finally on their way to mending.
Gautam may have walked in and misunderstood the situation and been miffed. He maybe asked to sit with Damini to perform the Pooja where Hrithik’s parents are supposed to perform the rituals. It would be appropriate for him to sit there as the oldest son of the family, technically the next patriarch after Mihir and the oldest brother of Hrithik. Damini similarly would be honoured.
Karan and Nandini being the next were asked to step in as Munni’s parents. For any ritual that requires a sibling aka a brother, Angad would be there for Hrithik and Parth can do the needful for Munni. Pari can step in for Hrithik obviously and Samaira for Munni when sisters are required.
It is also possible that there’s only one Pooja and maybe Gautam Damini were late to arrive and the Mahurat was running out and so TuHir had no choice but to ask KN to do the needful and sit down.
We will know tonight.
