We are nearly ready to go. This should be a terrific contest. Can Australia make the new ball count? Batting is certainly India's strength. Healy's team-mates stand back for a moment to allow her to lead ahead onto the field

Day 1: Tea Break
The opening session at the WACA Ground in Perth has been a total disaster for India, as the Australian pace attack used the fast, bouncy conditions to dismantle the top order and claim four massive wickets. India's batters all struggled to settle at the crease, and despite some flashes of intent, none of them were able to capitalize on their starts or build a meaningful partnership to steady the innings. The Australian bowlers were relentlessly accurate, specifically targeting the stumps with deliveries that nipped back sharply off the pitch. Both Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur fell in nearly identical fashion, as they attempted ambitious drives but left a big gap between the bat and pad, allowing the ball to zip through and shatter the stumps. This disciplined bowling performance has left the visiting side in deep trouble, with Australia firmly in the driver's seat as the teams head into the first break. We will be back shortly for the second session.
Lucy Hamilton: Obviously playing at the WACA first in my first Test match, it’s really exciting and a great opportunity. And yeah, to get my first wicket, I was really thrilled. Yeah, 100%. I think the support has been the biggest thing. Obviously getting my baggy green from Beth Mooney, and then running out with the girls was great. Even being out there was just a really special moment, and yeah, something I won’t forget. I think there’s lots of pressure on the Indian batters at the moment, so I think we just keep hitting our hard line and length and making them do something. They’re creating chances and we’re just going to take them. I think the support all the way back from Bundaberg, all the way to Brisbane, all the way to Perth, has been lovely. And yeah, seeing them up there puts a smile on my face, that’s for sure.
Session Highlights - 30 overs | 85 runs | 4 wickets. Australia continue to have a strong grip on the game. There has been enough assistance for the seamers with the Pink Ball on this WACA surface and the Australians have used it to great effect. Deepti fell early to Sutherland in the session. After that, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh got together and stitched a good partnership before the latter fell to Gardner. Rodrigues fell right in the next over as she fell to Hamilton. Both the dismissals were soft ones and that opened things up for Australia once again. Hamilton dismissed Rana cheaply to get a 3-fer. Kashvee Gautam was dropped by Mooney on 16 otherwise India could have been bowled out by now.
It has been a brilliant bowling performance from Australia to bowl India out under 200. Alyssa Healy won an important toss and chose to bowl on a helpful WACA surface. The Australians kept chipping away at the wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the Indians to get away. Apart from Shafali's cameo at the top and Rodrigues' fifty, there's nothing much to talk about India's batters. Kashvee Gautam lower down the order played a good little knock but it wasn't going to be enough to bail India out of trouble. Sutherland stole the limelight as she picked up a 4-fer while Lucy Hamilton also impressed on her debut to take a 3-fer. We will be back shortly for Australia's reply with the bat....
Day 1: Stumps - Australia Women trail by 102 runs
AUSW
96-3 (27)
great day's cricket at the WACA! Almost 300 runs were scored and 13 wickets fell. Healy won an important toss and the decision to bowl first on a helpful surface worked nicely for Australia. They kept on striking at regular intervals and never allowed India to get into rhythm. Rodrigues was the only one who looked assured and she went onto raise a fifty but she fell soon after that. A few other Indian batters got starts but couldn't convert them into anything significant. Sutherland was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as she took a 4-fer while Lucy Hamilton impressed on her debut to pick up a 3-fer. In response, the hosts got off to a wobbly start. The Indian seamers got the Pink ball to swing and seam under lights and kept the Aussie batters on their toes. Both their openers, Voll and Litchfield, departed cheaply. Perry looked a bit nervy to start with but she settled in nicely later on. Healy was dismissed in a soft manner as she fell to the debutant, Sayali Satghare. Sutherland batted positively from the word go and has provided good support to Perry. The runs came at a good pace for them at the fag end of the day. Australia hold the advantage but can India bounce back with a cluster of wickets tomorrow morning? Join us tomorrow for Day 2 to catch all the action. Bye for now!
