England have won the toss and have opted to field

Surya: We were looking to bat first. Semifinal, big game, and there's wind around too. Don't think there will be much dew. Looks a good one (the pitch). The best one. Credit to all the curators and groundsmen. Same team.

Brook: We're going to have a bowl tonight. (On the surface) It looks like a good wicket and hopefully we can get off to a good start with the ball and then try and chase it down. (Advantageous having played at this venue?) I think so, but they've obviously got a lot more experience on this ground than us and we've just got to go out there and try and assess conditions as quickly as possible and try and play our best cricket. (Peaking at the right time?) Yeah, hopefully, but T20 cricket is such a fickle game, you never know what's quite going to happen. But I think the way that we've played throughout this competition, the niggly games that we've had managed to scrape through, is hopefully going to hold us in good stead tonight.. Yeah, we're looking forward to it. They're going to have a hell of a lot of support tonight and hopefully we can keep it (crowd) quite quiet. Jamie Overton comes in for Rehan Ahmed.

Varun Chakaravarthy: Yeah, I’m very excited because I know it’s going to be a good game. They are very well prepared and we are also well prepared, so I’m really looking forward to a great contest. Yeah, there were a few points that I took from that series (against England last year), but I’ve also focused a lot on how they are playing now. The way they were playing back then and the way they are playing now is quite different. So I’ve taken a few lessons from the last time, but I’ve also studied their current approach. It’s fine. I don’t really look at the results. If you ask me how I process my performance, I just look at the pitch map after the match. If the ball is landing where I want it to, then I’m happy. I don’t really focus on how many runs I’ve conceded or how many wickets I’ve taken. Even wickets or runs don’t matter that much to me, I just look at the pitch map. If I’m being honest, in the first match I played in the IPL, I was hit for 24 runs in my first over. So you could say the mystery was decoded in the very first over I ever bowled (when asked how will he adapt when his mystery is decoded). After that, it’s just about adapting to the situation. It’s been about eight years since then, and that’s been the key. He’s a quality batsman (Brook), but I’ve prepared well for every batsman. Let’s see how it goes. I think the team that bowls well and hits the right lengths will have the advantage. But I believe we’ve prepared well. Other than that, I just hope there’s no dew so the contest remains even. Let’s see how it goes.
