Sri Lanka Innings

11.5 Maxwell to Nissanka, 1 run

Fifty for Nissanka too, and this has been another high-quality knock! Back of a length on middle and off. Nissanka nudges it into the mid wicket region and brings up his milestone, which also brings about an applause from the thousands clad in Sri Lankan blue!

Congratulations to Nissanka for his fifty!!

12.2 Stoinis to Kusal Mendis, OUT

Shanked high into the air, and Stoinis comes up trump for Australia again! And you can now hear a pin drop in Pallekele. This is in the slot on middle and off. Seems like Kusal does not quite read the slower one. Swings at it and only gets the height he wants. Connolly does the rest at deep mid wicket, and that is a timely breakthrough for the 2021 champions!

Marcus Stoinis to Pavan Rathnayake, FOUR, consecutive fours. A short of length delivery outside off, Pavan Rathnayake goes on the back foot to cut late, the thick outside-edge flies where there are no slips, runs fine for four to the third man fence

Marcus Stoinis to Pavan Rathnayake, FOUR, one-handed four. Full on off, Pavan Rathnayake gets forward to drive and it's aerial, but well wide of cover and no chance for sweeper cover to his right. That was top timing despite the bottom-hand coming off

Australia in trouble: Despite the wicket of Mendis, Sri Lanka are well-placed to leave the 2021 champions on the brink of elimination. They have wickets in hand, Nissanka is playing well and there's dew on the outfield. Expect them to polish the run-chase comfortably.

Graham : "I was just about to post....It's been a long time since I've watched an Australian team bowl and wonder where the next wicket will actually come from "...and there you go!" -- Well, now everyone knows where and how the next wicket might come from.
