Savita and Tulsi had the quintessential Saas Bahu bond. They loved each other once Savita’s anger cooled down; and she was angry because Mihir Tulsi had eloped… They fought each other, but if it was necessary they even supported each other.

There is a scene in S1 where Savita asks Tulsi to get back Ansh once his identity is revealed. Tulsi says she’s unsure if he can be ever a Virani in truth, how his upbringing is different and he may not be able to handle this family at all, how he may not be the son they all want him to be and that could be very difficult for this family, yet Savita asks her to get him home because he’s theirs. Tulsi tries but Ansh rejects her and insults her badly. Later an article gets published about his true identity in newspapers and Ansh gets mad and arrives at SN where he rudely tells Tulsi that if she was so desperate for money she could have simply told him her asking price and he would have signed a cheque to shut her up for good, why did she go to the press to reveal things. The first one to respond against this insult of Tulsi’s was Savita and she did so by slapping Ansh and throwing him out of the house. She goes onto say she was wrong about asking Tulsi to get him back. She got carried away by emotions but she shouldn’t have done that. She even tells Ansh upfront that he doesn’t deserve to be called a son of Tulsi’s because his behaviour doesn’t reflect her character one bit.

Savita could taunt Tulsi, argue with her but also fought for her against her own sons and grandsons when needed fiercely.

Old Hindi movies loved the evil saas trope but irl this relationship is complicated but it can also be loving. One archetype doesn’t fit all.

This breakdown of Tulsi’s had her more vulnerable because even last time she didn’t talk of dying but then again we hear her mentioning how she had support systems in elders that she knew she could count on - she had Baa and she had Savita - two women she knew would stand with her over even Mihir and that was all she needed. Now she has no elder to support her. Daksha is not home all the time and the equation isn’t the same as it was with Baa and Savita. Gayatri is well….

Then there are taunts about her appearance from strangers but more importantly her own daughter too that have eaten away at her confidence slowly. That’s why she mentions how Mihir had one duty, one thing she asked of him - to give her some respect and some love. That’s all she asked - for her to be able to have some dignity and feel loved. But he took away even that from her… in this stage of life at that - hence her death wish.

Thakurji coming for her was a reminder that everything we feel including love, hurt, anger etc. are limited to this body alone and we keep changing bodies like clothes until we all return to the source of our creation. These emotions keep us from liberating ourselves, as is said in Gita - the path to liberation requires us to rise above our expectations, emotions and desires. At the end of the day no matter which name we go by, where we are born, what we look like, whichever body we have donned as our new clothes in this cycle of karma the only eternal truth is one - we all are alone in this journey and our only companion is also the one who is our source and our destination all rolled into one.

It also was a message to those seeking with mental health and depression, those having similar thoughts to Tulsi’s for whatever reason - don’t give up, don’t feel alone and lonely - even if you feel alone you are not, you just need to remember you have that higher power with you always regardless of how you address that power - whether you call that Supreme Divine as Thakurji, as Maa, as Bholenath or as Murugan or something else. Go seek that one shelter that is always available, the one who will never shun you or deny you - who loves you truly and has always been with you and will be with you across all your lifetimes and even beyond.

My only gripe with that scene is the weird AI.

yup the AI was weird

They could have done it with more symbolism and that white glow was when she was talking to Savita felt off

They could have done a white background and tulsi and Savita talking.

But still I liked the scene

Lets see what's next for tulsi

They wanted to promote their weird AI Mahabharat with the Gujarati Movie all rolled into one. Remember Tulsi was also the one who was hosting the Gita Mahotsav recently on Gita Jayanti too.

you write beautifully. always look forward to your posts heresmiley27

savita and tulsi bond is so weird cause often savita went against tulsi disrespectd her etc. i guess thats also acting power cause when savita begged for death audience understood their bond. savita hurt her during the mandira pregnancy drama, ansh, after that there was one track forgot who was the vamp there. there was a good scene of savita going hey bhagwan ye maine kya kar diya, mujhe tulsi se baat krni hai. after that she had that accident and died. the actress was amazing

the start of kyuki was tulsi being absolutely savage. she would taunt savita back lol. there was one scene i remember tulsi complained to mihir that maa scolded me, mihir went to shout on savita and tusli taunted savita too. it was so funny and showed tulsi can be sly when she wanted

i wonder whats up with gayatri, she went to noyona supporting her and mihir. ab iska kya problem hai

i said this in somewhere else that when human kanhaji gave his hand and his dialogues about aap kaise akele ho, subah uthke kiska naam lete ho, etc, then i loved his dialogues that people are never alone cause god is there. also there was one line aap akele aye ho duniya mein you should face the world alone. that was great lesson for audience too. cause the serials give lecture how bahus has to keep family together even when they are toxic, but here god is telling you should walk away face the world alone. liked that dialogues.

Thank you smiley9smiley27

Their bond is supposed to be weird, full of ups and downs and a rollercoaster ride.

Remember these people are not related by blood. They meet as adults usually with their own personalities moulded the way they are and then are expected to share a roof and more than that. One is expected to listen while the other presumes that by natural order they will command, thus a conflict is eminent because now we are not living in the Sat or even Treta Yug. This is Kalyug.

They’re strangers who essentially become family in one day because of a common person they both love and care for. Their issues arise because they’re both individually trying to be important to that same person. One doesn’t want to lose her relevance and the other wishes to establish hers. One says that she has a stronger right over that common person because she’s been with him from the very beginning; the other says that she will be with him until the very end.

That common person in actuality is the turf that both are fighting over, over and over again. He’s their binding agent and also their battle field that pits them against each other because it’s my son vs my husband.

There’s a battle of my, me, and mine there.

But the true common ground for both of them comes from the fact that in that home they’re both the true outsiders. Their husbands and children, and those related to them share blood; they maybe grandparents and grandchildren, parents and children, siblings, cousins, uncles and aunts. They’ve probably all lived together all their lives and so there’s history that also binds them together than just blood and a common last name.

But these two women are strangers who are expected to come together and form a bond over a single person they both expect things from and a common surname that they share and add as their last name one fine day after years of being someone else before.

That’s where they can find their common ground - they know they can stick together because one has been on this journey and one is beginning hers and can use the help and the guidance if she can find it in herself to have some humility, patience and respect. The other will reciprocate once she recognises she’s not being threatened as an enemy but is treated with respect and love.

Then they can truly come together as women, as friends, as family. Their love is not a product of biological bonds that automatically leads to love and affection; but one that’s a product of hard work, patience, respect and choosing to be a good person over and over again - not just for each other but for all the people involved in their lives. That’s why it’s one of the most complex and testing things that one can imagine and live through. You are bound to go through ups and downs based on so many factors that it’s hard to pin down what you will do or go through until you’re there.

As individuals they have their own egos and personalities, wants and desires. As women they can bond over things only two women can relate to & bond over be it messy and difficult stuff like periods, pregnancy cravings, labour pains, raising children etc. to things of enjoyment like shopping, travelling, food, etc.

The challenge arises because there are bound to be difference of opinions and views, of tastes and preferences. The ride requires two people to be caring, respectful and honest as much as possible but it’s not humanly possible always hence the bumps along the road in the journey.
