Thank you.
Yes, Mihir is meant to be annoying and get on our nerves because the track is meant to make us angry at him.
He has fallen into a trap of trust - one with a daughter and another with a friend. When it comes to the daughter he’s guilty of being too blinded by his love but then again that’s how parents are irl when it comes to their kids sometimes, they don’t see how awful their child is or can be until it’s too late. Their denial stems from love and a sense of belief in their own upbringing, they fail to grasp that kids grow up and can be their own people who are not the little ones they raised anymore in any shape or form. So there a nasty, crushing realisation and a painful heartbreak awaits for him along with shame.
Where Noyna is concerned, he’s being an absolute idiot. No doubt about it. Also she’s made him feel extremely sorry for herself by sharing that sob story of being an abuse victim and a survivor of an abusive marriage, with that random pervert she’s made him feel protective of her as he feels she’s a woman with no one to protect her being subjected to such behaviour by such awful men. So she’s not only masterfully manipulated him into thinking he’s always right but became a victim while allowing him to play hero to her bechari akeli haalat ki maari abla naari.
In comparison, Tulsi comes across as more self assured, more confident in a way as she’s not being harassed by random men, she’s not an abuse victim. She’s also capable of doing things most women wouldn’t dream of doing right from shooting her son to standing in court and calling their daughters liars publicly to save someone else. Not to mention mercy killing their MILs (though they may dream of this
).
So she doesn’t require a protector per se… moreover she’s not agreeing to whatever he says or wants. She tells him what’s on her mind and if it’s a disagreement so be it.
So this is also that psychological thing at play here. Men love the idea of playing heroes, of being proud protectors and saviours.
EVERYONE regardless of gender or any other criteria of assessment or labels LOVES to hear they’re right. So that’s the case here.
Angad is 💯 at fault here for not standing up for himself and running away. He also got married to Vrinda because he was afraid that if he returned home without a wife he might be unable to deny Mihir’s verdict/order/wish to marry Mittali. No matter however it’s wrapped up, Angad fears he won’t be able to marry Vrinda if he doesn’t do so now because he would marry Mittali if he turns up there and denies to marry her.
So it speaks volumes kinda about Angad’s own character as well as confidence too. Why not take the blame and be the bad guy for a short while for a longer period of happiness and love? Angad says he didn’t want to spoil Mittali’s reputation but a broken engagement is a broken engagement regardless of who does the breaking. Mittali’s reputation was not gonna go unaffected just because she called it off. Rather she might have come across as commitment phobic or worse, as a girl who cannot stick to her decisions or maybe even get tagged as a dubious girl of questionable character. So this was never gonna end with her doing the right thing and he should have known that.
A girl who goes to the extreme of playing fake possessed by a ghost in front of her only family to simply bide her time because she’s knee deep in debt and gambling addictions should never have been trusted to do the right thing just because she said so.
Worse he sat waiting for her to turn up rather than take the bull by the horns and expose her drama in front of both their families. He wanted to give her a face saver for reasons beyond comprehension. If he doubted her, he should’ve taken some elder in the family in confidence to help him and be there as a witness to when Mittali is exposed, but he would rather have Vrinda, whose words would not matter to his or Mittali’s family and Mittali’s friends who for all he knew could still be loyal to Mittali and not rat her out if not out of a sense of friendship than perhaps fear as she too may have their dirty secrets to keep them from opening their mouths. The fact that they didn’t do so in front of her mom and aunt says that might have been the case.
Heck, Angad could have simply asked Rithik to tag along and shoot a video of the whole baba thing secretly to provide evidence in front of their families if he didn’t want to take an elder along too. So this is idiotic behaviour on his part too.
