Today is nov 3

Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar was born on the day of Laxmi Pujan, Dipawali on 3 November 1937. Probably, because of the day of his birth, his parents named him Laxmikant, which is a name of Lord Vishnu, consort of Goddess Laxmi. His father died when he was a child. Because of the poor financial condition of the family he could not complete his academic education either.[3] Laxmikant's father's friend, a musician himself, advised Laxmikant and his elder brother to learn music. Accordingly, Laxmikant learned to play the mandolin and his elder brother learned to play the tabla. He spent two years in the company of the well-known mandolin player Hussain Ali. He began organising and performing in Indian Classical instrumental music concerts to earn some money. Later, in the 1940s, he also learned mandolin from Bal Mukund Indorker and violin from Husnalal (of the Husanlal Bhagatram fame). Laxmikant began his film career as a child actor in the films Bhakt Pundalik (1949) and Aankhen (1950). He also acted in some Gujarati films.[4]

Which LP film do you think they deliverd their best songs ?

According to me Satyam Shivam Sundaram followed by Karz, Parasmani, Sargam , Dosti. They were real competitors to RD Burman. Together they captured 70-80% of the films between 1972-85.

Many many films LP gave music in that Era, many more film were super duper than you mentions above, i do not think L. P or Anu malik closer to Rahul dev burmen -- Rahul alias Puncham was a born talent - Outstanding in both Classical & Western style

Although L. P gave more number involving rafi lata songs than kishore songs.i rate Kishore songs more likeable by "over -all public" than other singers

Though it is S D Burman who noticed, promoted, refined and popularised Kishore Kumar's voice for playback singing, his scoreboard shows maximum songs with R D Burman (563) followed by Laxmikant Pyarelal (402) followed by Kalyanji Anandji (270).

can't imagine one can take LP and any malik names together 😃. When Raj Kapoor decided to part ways with his most favourite duo Shankar Jaikishan, he thought of Laxmikant Pyarelal as the only option for Bobby. And what a great decision it proved to be ! Later he took them for SSS which was so divine. Also premrog. Ditto for Manoj Kumar who had great sense of music. As per me L-P were better than RD. As per you RD was better, so opinion differs individually. But I wanted to say together L-P and RD captured 70-80% of the films between them. Both have also given very average and repetitive music in later stages of their career. But they were undoubtedly great.

Not Aggrey with you about Lakshmikant pyarelal.no way he can stand vs Puncham ji

Despite all this Quality of LP

Mass Appeal: L-P had an uncanny ability to understand the pulse of the audience, creating songs that became instant chartbusters and, often, the main reason for a film's box office success. Their music wasn't just background score but became integral to the film's narrative and characters' images.

Work Ethic: They were known for their discipline, dedication, and constant search for innovation, which helped them survive and thrive even during periods when other major composers faced lean phases.

Their impact is evident in the fact that their music continues to earn high royalties and remains popular with new generations, a testament to its enduring quality and appeal.

I still rate Rahul dev burmen top of all music

Director for many reasons, many many Music director try to adapt his style of music,

Raj ji chasing LP only because he not trust Shankar without jaikishan,

( pyarelal not great without

Lakshmikant ji -- Yash chopra & Lata ji Aggre this fact)

Enough 👁️🖥️
