‘You will be very missed’: Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Karan Johar remember Zarine Khan with love

Actor and producer Priyanka Chopra shared an emotional note on social media as she remembered Zarine Khan, who passed away on Friday. Zarine, wife of veteran actor Sanjay Khan and mother to Sussanne Khan and Zayed Khan, was 81 and had been unwell for some time.

Priyanka’s tribute

On her Instagram Stories, Priyanka shared a picture of Zarine and wrote, “Will always remember you with the greatest joy and incredible energy. You will be very missed, Zarine Aunty.” The actor also tagged Sussanne and Zayed, expressing her condolences to the family. Priyanka’s mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, was known to share a close friendship with Zarine over the years.

Bollywood pays last respects

Several members of the film fraternity gathered at the Khan residence to offer their condolences. Jaya Bachchan arrived with her daughter Shweta Bachchan, while Hrithik Roshan, Saba Azad, Rani Mukerji, and Bobby Deol were also seen at the residence. Shabana Azmi, Rakul Preet Singh, Neelam Kothari, and Jackky Bhagnani joined the mourners, standing in solidarity with Sanjay Khan’s family during this difficult time.

Apart from Priyanka, Kajol and Karan Johar also penned heartfelt notes remembering Zarine. Both shared fond memories of her warmth and elegance, reflecting the respect and affection she commanded in the industry.

Life and legacy

Zarine Khan, who met Sanjay Khan in the 1960s, married him in 1966. Together, they raised four children — Sussanne, Zayed, Simone Arora, and Farah Ali Khan.

Before turning to interior design, Zarine appeared briefly in Hindi cinema. She featured in Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963) alongside Dev Anand. Later, she built a successful career as an interior designer and entrepreneur, known for her refined aesthetic and quiet grace.

Her passing marks the end of an era for one of Bollywood’s most respected families, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, artistry, and deep family bonds.
