The summer movie season is upon us and every producer tries to cash in by releasing their big time movies during this period. It is a great time to watch a movie as school is out, IPL has ended and everybody just wants to relax and get some entertainment. This year is no different because there are many potential money spinners coming your way at a theater near you. We, here at Bollyspice, would like to give you a lineup of the summer movies that you should be on the lookout for.

Sarkar Raj (release date: June 6) - The sequel to the 2005 hit is perhaps the most anticipated film of the summer. Firstly it is a sequel to a successful film and then there is of course the three Bachchans (Amitabh, Abhishek, and Aishwarya) coming together for a film for the first time. The promos have been causing quite a buzz since they started playing and everyone is expecting big things from this crime drama. The only concern is with director Ram Gopal Varma who has been in a really bad streak of late with his films. He will try to break his unsuccessful run and try to come up with yet another memorable cinematic experience just like he did with the original Sarkar.
Mere Baap Pehle Aap (release date: June 13) - Priyadarshan is probably the most successful director when it comes to comedies. He always has a winning formula that brings audiences to the theaters every time. We expect no different when his latest film arrives to you in mid June. Starring Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav (Priyadarshan regulars) and the much hyped Genelia D'Souza. Going by the promos, this one promises to be one rollicking affair.
Aashayein (release date: June 20) - John Abraham teams up with director Nagesh Kukunoor (Iqbal, Dor) to bring a story about a gambler who is dying and how he decides to live the last days of his life. Looking at Nagesh's track record, we can expect another fine film. Also this may very well be John's breakout performance. Let's just hope it doesn't turn out to be another No Smoking when John also worked with a very promising director but ended up falling flat.
De Taali (release date: June 20) - Going up against Aashayein on the 20th will be a light hearted comedy from the director of My Name is Anthony Gonsalves. The film stars Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh, Ayesha Takia, and Rimi Sen. Comedies seem to be the flavor of the day so that, along with a promising cast, are boding well for the film's success. Also, the music of the film has been accepted very well by the audience.
Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic (release date: June 27) – Yash Raj Films is back with their next, after the massive bomb Tashan. They have brought back the successful team from Hum Tum- director Kunal Kohli and stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji- plus, they have added Amisha Patel to the cast. YRF sure hopes this one can end their cold spell at the box office.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (release date: July 4) - Aamir Khan, the producer, is back with this young and hip film about college students directed by Abbas Tyrewala and co-produced by his cousin, Mansoor Khan. The film stars Aamir's nephew, Imran Khan, and the aforementioned Genelia D'Souza. The music has been creating a rage since its release, so the film already has that going for it. Anything Aamir touches these days seems to be turning to gold, so we expect yet another interesting film brought to us by the Ace Khan.
Love Story 2050 (release date: July 4) – It will be the battle of the newcomers this 4th of July as Harman Baweja, son of director Harry Baweja, will be making his debut, alongside girlfriend (allegedly) Priyanka Chopra, in this high tech sci-fi flick. It is said that Harry has left no stone unturned for his son's debut vehicle. Even Priyanka has gone all out with a totally different look with her red hair. We know this movie will definitely provide something different because a sci-fi film like this has never been attempted in Bollywood, and that is what will help this film the most.

Kismat Konnection (release date: July 18) - This small film which has been creating quite some noise since its inception stars Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan. The film is being directed by Aziz Mirza, who has directed quite a few of SRK's successful films. That, along with a fresh pair, has many excited for this one. The biggest story out of this film very well could be that the rumored Shahid-Vidya romance began while shooting for this movie.

Mission Istanbul (release date: July 25) – Apoorva Lakhia is back with his next after the successful Shootout at Lokhandwala. The film is said to be about terrorism in the backdrop of Turkey. If Lakhia's previous films are anything to go by, then we should expect some pretty solid action from this one, which is always essential for a summer movie. The film stars Zayed Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Sunil Shetty, and Shabbir Ahluwalia.

Money Hain To Honey Hain (release date: July 25) – After a successful outing in Partner, Govinda is once again a sought after star. He is considered to be the master of comedy, so you can expect loads of entertainment from this one. Also starring Manoj Bajpai, Aftab Shivdasani, Upen Patel, Celina Jaitley, and Hansika Motwani, this film is directed by Ganesh Acharya, the well known choreographer.

Singh is Kinng (release date: August 8) – Although he had a hiccup with Tashan, Akshay Kumar is back with his next in which he will once again try to prove he is the box office king. He is in good hands as he will be working with Welcome director, Anees Bazmee, as well as, producer Vipul Shah, who has directed Akshay in three of his successful films (Aankhen, Waqt, and Namastey London). Not to mention the very successful pairing of him and Katrina Kaif will once again be together on screen. The film is said to be an action comedy, the two genres Akshay has mastered, so that should be enough to get you hyped for this one.

God Tussi Great Ho (release date: August 15) – This much delayed film will finally see the light of day this August if all goes right. Said to be a remake of the Hollywood hit, Bruce Almighty, this film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Priyanka Chopra and is being directed by first time director, Rumi Jaffery. If the star cast is anything to go by, then this film should have no problem in becoming a success. The main concerns will be the fact that it is a remake of a Hollywood film and the fact that is may look a bit outdated since it's been delayed for so long.

Bachna Ae Haseeno (release date: August 15) – Yash Raj Films will be back once again at a theater near you to end the summer against GTGH. This time it will be with their latest offering directed by Siddharth Anand of Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum fame. The film stars newest Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and he will be accompanied by Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba, and real life ladylove Deepika Padukone. If TPTM fails to get YRF back on the right track, then they will be leaning on this vehicle. Also, Ranbir has yet to taste success in the industry so he also will be leaning greatly towards this film. Not to mention this is the first time he is starring in a film with girlfriend Deepika, so he definitely wants it to do well. Expect a young hip romantic comedy that only YRF could bring to you.
