Since there was no one to compete with RS/Anupamaa/RG, their arrogance has reached a point where it's impossible to return without falling flat on their faces.
@b: Exactly ! Till now, Ekta has not interfered or commented much regarding this. She to her credit, as a dignified producer said Anupamaa is doing a good job.
RS ko nahi patha, agar Ekta aapne pe aagayi toh inka kya haal hoga yeh jaante bhi nahi hai.
Truthfully, I would be more worried about Smriti than Ekta. Woman has been a cabinet minister and there’s nothing that says that she can’t return to the office again someday.
She might seem like she’s not in a position of power anymore officially, but she’s still very much relevant in the corridors of power.
If you notice carefully, Kyunki’s started off with a track this time around with the concept of women accusing their in-laws and husbands and filing false cases against them. The idea was not just inspired by real world events of the recent past; but is a very specific concept that is aimed at generating the message of true women empowerment but not at the cost of innocent men and their families.
There has been a lot of discussion on social media about such things requiring amendments in the current laws and the drafting of and implementation of gender neutral laws that are not biased against men inherently while also protecting women who truly need them.
Media as we know is always used to spread messages and generate discussions in the masses the world over. Governments particularly have been using the same to promote their messages and policies. What’s the point of having the most popular, iconic and influential TV star of the era in your party if you can’t have her talk about such issues in a way that the message reaches the common man? The government needs to show that they have demands and pressures of the common man to meet when they amend/tweak or make changes to such laws which can cause a lot of harm to their own power. What better way than to ease the reforms in than by ensuring that you generate a buzz around it using one of your most popular faces? You have to use every single thing at your disposal.
Movies have become irrelevant lately so they couldn’t be relied upon. It also has to be taken into account that such topics cannot be discussed in 2/3 hours alone. Besides, a certain section of Bollywood has their issues with the government and won’t make any convincing movie about these things and the other half is not as popular nor technically sound. Movies have become expensive to watch in theatres too. Movies addressing social issues and historical events are also labelled as propaganda from the moment they’re announced without the movie even hitting the floors and begin shooting.
So Smriti’s return to TV is entirely a strategic decision in line with her party even now.
Shahi and Rupali filled a vaccum and think they’re some kind of aces. They better not stir a hornet’s nest here because they might end up dealing with a lot more than they can chew on. Just joining the same party is not going to provide any immunity or protection from the higher ups if they cross a line. Rupali has barely gotten a foot into the party, she’s not even seen doing anything since her joining. Smriti has a seat at the table. They are very much in two very different positions.
