@b: Exactly ! Till now, Ekta has not interfered or commented much regarding this. She to her credit, as a dignified producer said Anupamaa is doing a good job.

RS ko nahi patha, agar Ekta aapne pe aagayi toh inka kya haal hoga yeh jaante bhi nahi hai.

Truthfully, I would be more worried about Smriti than Ekta. Woman has been a cabinet minister and there’s nothing that says that she can’t return to the office again someday.

She might seem like she’s not in a position of power anymore officially, but she’s still very much relevant in the corridors of power.

If you notice carefully, Kyunki’s started off with a track this time around with the concept of women accusing their in-laws and husbands and filing false cases against them. The idea was not just inspired by real world events of the recent past; but is a very specific concept that is aimed at generating the message of true women empowerment but not at the cost of innocent men and their families.

There has been a lot of discussion on social media about such things requiring amendments in the current laws and the drafting of and implementation of gender neutral laws that are not biased against men inherently while also protecting women who truly need them.

Media as we know is always used to spread messages and generate discussions in the masses the world over. Governments particularly have been using the same to promote their messages and policies. What’s the point of having the most popular, iconic and influential TV star of the era in your party if you can’t have her talk about such issues in a way that the message reaches the common man? The government needs to show that they have demands and pressures of the common man to meet when they amend/tweak or make changes to such laws which can cause a lot of harm to their own power. What better way than to ease the reforms in than by ensuring that you generate a buzz around it using one of your most popular faces? You have to use every single thing at your disposal.

Movies have become irrelevant lately so they couldn’t be relied upon. It also has to be taken into account that such topics cannot be discussed in 2/3 hours alone. Besides, a certain section of Bollywood has their issues with the government and won’t make any convincing movie about these things and the other half is not as popular nor technically sound. Movies have become expensive to watch in theatres too. Movies addressing social issues and historical events are also labelled as propaganda from the moment they’re announced without the movie even hitting the floors and begin shooting.

So Smriti’s return to TV is entirely a strategic decision in line with her party even now.

Shahi and Rupali filled a vaccum and think they’re some kind of aces. They better not stir a hornet’s nest here because they might end up dealing with a lot more than they can chew on. Just joining the same party is not going to provide any immunity or protection from the higher ups if they cross a line. Rupali has barely gotten a foot into the party, she’s not even seen doing anything since her joining. Smriti has a seat at the table. They are very much in two very different positions.

There isn't any bakuda or bakudi but ig a motherly vibe

Also anupamaa had a item number on chikni Chameli where she was dancing in grief or some weird shit.

In kahani ,Parvati was not a goddess even she made mistakes.same for tulsi.

I have seen tulsi speak English in few epi sometimes and she is so normal without any gawar pana in her tone.

Tulsi was always very dignified even in S1 when it came to the way she treated her children. She loved them and even slapped them when necessary, has even shot one dead smiley36 but she never babied them or worse humiliated them publicly.

She treated them like adults and has been very respectful in her tone even when she felt they were doing something wrong. When her bahus respect her you know they don’t do it just because she’s their MIL, it’s expected of them and because she’s the main lead but because you see Tulsi truly treat them like she would a daughter. She didn’t behave with them the way Savita or Gayatri did when Tulsi married Mihir. She earns their respect by being a mother to them and their loyalty by standing with them even against her sons if need be.

The best part - she doesn’t scream and yell every single time she does it too.

As for clarity of speech - I am so glad none of the actors barring Daksha are shown speaking in that typical Gujarati tone. For Daksha alone they justified it by showing she was born and raised in Jamnagar. Since the rest are all Mumbai born and raised, they have no thick accents be it in Hindi or English. Smriti is also fluent in Bengali from what I understand as well as Punjabi. I think there was once some segment of SBS or something where she and Ronit were conversing in fluent Bengali and the segment aired a glimpse of their discussion.

@b: Ha, exactly! Smriti has been a cabinet minister, while Rupali isn’t even a prominent face in the party. It won’t take them much to throw her out.

@p: wow, tbh never thought about it that way.

Waise bhi, there’s a lot of controversy surrounding RG. With Ekta and Smriti together, they won’t stand a chance. SP will save their skins and will not support Shahi over Ekta, especially with Smriti at the helm. Shahi has a lot at stake. It’ll become their shared nightmare if they aren’t careful.

They don’t need to do anything really. If they ignore her it’s more than enough. No ticket to contest any election from any seat, no calls for promotional events pre-election or any other event. Forget she’s joined the party. That’s it. She will do the needful herself and can’t even play the victim card and accuse any one of anything. After all, she’s not doing anything remotely to secure a ticket while people who are serious about getting elected are supposed to show up and do something to make a case for themselves as a candidate that the people will vote for.

Just being a popular actress doesn’t cut it especially if you don’t even have any kind of personal rapport with the people who are supposed to help you campaign for a seat in a particular constituency.

Smriti lost from Amethi this time around but she has done a lot of work there and even has a home there. The reason she won from there before was because she had done some work genuinely. This time around she lost owing to internal issues within the state unit but then again, the party as a whole performed poorly. Even Modi himself won by a smaller margin than the previous time, so this cannot be held against her.

If she’s kicked out she will play dirty and cast aspersions; why give her the opportunity? Just bury someone by ignoring they exist.

As for the fact that Tulsi is working for her party even when doing this show - it’s not entirely unreasonable to assume as a lot of things are at stake here. Getting some issues in the public discourse without any chances of them being misrepresented or worse flipped had to be entrusted to a reliable person within the party. Also content related changes are also needed and so this is a much needed step. Content cant change overnight and policy tweaks required to address both onscreen and offscreen changes required for Smriti to get up to date again and it was impossible unless she stepped in herself. Discussions alone won’t solve anything. Also, our entertainment industry is our soft power and with the rise of India on the global stage, the soft power needs to be used in a more serious and a better way to promote our country in a positive light rather than simply show everything is negative and awful here and all we have are issues. To highlight our culture and not just show everything about it is evil and wrong - kinda like what Kantara, RRR and Bahubali started- but to take it to the small screen.

Smriti has represented our government in the previous term while she was a cabinet minister in the Davos Summit at least twice. It’s an annual summit held in the town of Davos in Switzerland attended by the most influential and powerful people from governments around the world and huge business houses that control all the industries you can think of around the world. Only 3 other people have represented the country on a government level in that summit besides Smriti - S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal and Ashwini Vaishnav. If anyone thinks these people went to Davos without Modi Shah’s approval they should get themselves checked. And once they understand that, it’s a no brainer to decipher that these people are extremely close to the two main men and extremely powerful in their own right. Smriti was one of those select few, needless to say she’s much more powerful than Ekta and more well connected.

Like Aani (EkPaheli) said, it's not just Ekta anymore. Smriti has a lot of influence than RG -- in the industry, in the party, and with the audience. RS & RG are used to dealing with chotta mota producers jinke upar woh pressure daal sakte hain. This time they are up against a formidable pair, if they don't check themselves, they'll fall on their faces before they know what hit them.

@b: just like Kangana is doing now. BJP must be regretting their decision big time in making her a part of their party. Kangana & RG are cut from the same cloth, with minor differences. At least Kangana can act.
