In my opinion, the old Rahi was better. I’m not sure whether it’s something missing in Adrija’s acting or flaws in the writing of her character, but I never found her as convincing as the original Rahi.

Anuj was much happier as a single man smiley37

Sometimes I genuinely feel bad for Anuj - poor guy must be thinking, ‘I was living a peaceful life alone, how did I end up stuck between this mother-daughter duo?’

Finally, he’s free from the Mahaan Maa and the Badtameez Beti!

Shanti ka anubhav mehsoos ho raha hoga Anuj ko smiley37

Why Anupama is not an example of "Women Empowerment"? :

For years, the show Anupama has been marketed as a story of women empowerment — a journey of a homemaker who rises above betrayal, finds her individuality, and stands strong. But honestly, if we look beyond the emotional dialogues and tears, Anupama as a character has done little to inspire genuine empowerment.

Let’s be real — empowerment isn’t about endless sacrifices, crying over toxic people, or returning to the same cycle of disrespect. It’s about learning, growing, and setting boundaries. And on that front, Anupama has failed miserably.

The Lost Dream — Education and Betrayal :

Anupama’s downfall began when she sacrificed her college education for the sake of her toxic family. Hasmukh, who once promised that she would continue her studies after marriage, failed to keep his word. That one broken promise cost her years of personal growth and independence.

Instead of being supported to build a life of her own, she was trapped in domestic servitude and emotional dependency. Vanraj, rather than valuing her sacrifices, went on to cheat on her, cruelly using her lack of “modern education” as a justification. It was a bitter irony — she gave up her future for the Shah family, and they repaid her with betrayal.

Her Failed Marriages — Vanraj and Anuj :

Anupama’s marriage with Vanraj was a disaster from start to finish. Even after years of humiliation, infidelity, and mental trauma, she couldn’t truly break free from the Shah household’s toxicity. She continued revolving around Vanraj, Leela, and the entire Shah clan, emotionally enslaved to their manipulations. For someone who claimed to be “independent,” she remained tied to the very people who destroyed her confidence.

Then came Anuj, the man who was supposed to represent stability and respect. But his decision to marry Anupama was impulsive and reckless. He ignored all the red flags — he had enough evidence of how toxic her ex-family was and how she was incapable of setting boundaries with them. Yet, he went ahead, believing love alone would fix everything.

When conflicts arose, both Anupama and Anuj crumbled. Their marriage, built on emotion rather than emotional maturity, collapsed under the same weight of chaos that had ruined her first one.

Wasted Opportunities — The Financial Literacy Course :

After Anuj and Anupama got married, Anuj enrolled her in a short-term financial literacy course to help her become independent and understand the basics of the business world. It could have been a true turning point — a chance for Anupama to reinvent herself, gain financial confidence, and even contribute meaningfully to Anuj’s ventures.

However, instead of portraying genuine growth or a meaningful learning journey, the makers reduced the track to shallow romantic moments and unnecessary emotional drama. Once again, substance was sacrificed for sentimentality, turning what could have been a powerful empowerment arc into just another missed opportunity.

Failure as a Mother :

Her motherhood, often glorified as her biggest strength, has been inconsistent and directionless.

  • Toshu grew up arrogant, selfish, and ungrateful.

  • Pakhi inherited her mother’s emotional weakness — oscillating between entitlement and confusion.

  • Samar, who once stood by her, suffered because she could never prioritize stability over emotional attachment to toxic people.

  • And Rahi, the youngest, barely receives proper attention or structure amidst the endless family chaos.

Anupama’s parenting mirrors her personal choices — too much emotion, too little discipline, and zero boundaries.

A Pattern of Stagnation :

From her dance academy to opportunities abroad, Anupama got chance after chance to rebuild her life. Yet she repeatedly returned to the same Shah drama, losing her focus every single time. She became a symbol of emotional stagnation, not empowerment — a woman forever trapped in her own guilt and dependency.

Anuj’s Decline — From Powerful to Passive :

When Anuj was introduced, he was the embodiment of dignity, calmness, and emotional maturity. Fans who admired Gaurav Khanna’s iconic portrayal of Inspector Kavin in CID expected another strong, self-assured character.

But after marrying Anupama, the writing completely dismantled that promise. Anuj was reduced to a passive, apologetic, and confused man, constantly bending over backward for a partner who never prioritized him. Instead of being portrayed as a supportive equal, he was written as another casualty of Anupama’s emotional whirlpool.

Frankly, Anuj should never have married Anupama. He could have easily chosen to adopt Rahi as a single parent, giving the child a stable upbringing and a peaceful home. Instead, he entangled himself in her endless drama — and lost his own identity in the process.

This is an unpopular opinion but the show hit a snag the moment she married Anuj. As much as I loved his character, he was a mismatch for Anupama. I felt like before they could establish a healthy kind of friendship , his one sided devotion rushed them into a love story and I don't know why they chose to adopt. It left no space for growth as a couple. The women empowerment storyline are half baked and they try to credit it to her relationship to Anuj but I think the reality is that his love and the need of that kind of devotion stopped Anupama and this show from growing

Either April Fool has fallen on the month of October in 2025 or Shit Shahi has actually acknowledged that Anupama is not a Show about women empowerment but a mindless troll piece..
