Taking one or two scenes out of another sports film isn't plagiarizing the whole movie... and, btw, almost every sportsmovie were underdogs win against the favorites has such a motivation speech.

There is so much original Indian in ChakDe that I find it very unfair to name the movie "A blatant plagiarized version of Miracle" and "a biopic of the American ice hockey coach Herb Brooks". It is neither the former nor the latter.

There indeed is a biographic touch as the role of Kabir Khan deliberately had traits of Mir Ranjan Negi's sports career and the background is the win of the national women's field hockey team at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Some people here have a problem with SRK even breathing......don't worry about them and learn to ignore smiley36...They will find a negative with everything he does...smiley36

This is the movie that has my heart, lungs, kidneys everything......and how handsome SRK looked here....smiley42smiley27

He deserved the NA or this movie...smiley22

The movie got a NA, though. (best actor went to the Kannada actor Prakash Raj, the leading actor in the awarded best film that year).

The movie is made by YRF directed by Shimit Amin with a plethora of actors of which Saarookh is just one of them. YRF is guilty of blatantly lifting stories and ideas from other language movies without giving any due credit, including the recent Sayyara…It’s not one or two scenes in the movie like you guys like to make it out to be or simplify, (like as if it’s ok to do it.smiley24).Just go watch the movie and you will know. Anyway the plagiarism is on the director and producer not the actor, unless some of you obsessive SRK fans know something about his connection other than being an actor with this project. There are like a 100+ people connected to the project but somehow you make it about your idol. Udta teer apne pe mat le and then cry about it….Clearly it’s some of you guys whose view is blocked by your obsession for your idol which is making you live on this forum 24/7 and make everything about him and get offended on his behalf. Lage raho!smiley36

You may like it or not, so here a bit longer (and not written by me, just quoting the answer I got)...and it's not about the main lead, dear, but about a movie you liked to demean:

"While Chak De! India shares thematic similarities with the movie Miracle (2004), particularly in its portrayal of an underdog sports team overcoming adversity and the use of a powerful team-building speech, it's not considered a direct plagiarism. Chak De! India is inspired by the life of former Indian hockey coach Mir Ranjan Negi, and while it borrows elements from the sports drama genre, including the motivational speeches, the core narrative is rooted in Indian hockey history.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Thematic Similarity:
Both Chak De! India and Miracle feature a team overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and a coach's inspirational role.

In essence, Chak De! India uses the sports drama template to tell a story inspired by Indian hockey, incorporating elements that resonate with other films in the genre, including Miracle, but it's not a plagiarism of the movie.

  • The "Miracle" Scene:
A key scene in Chak De! India, where Shah Rukh Khan's character insists on the team chanting "India" instead of their individual affiliations, mirrors a similar scene in Miracle, where the US hockey team chants "USA".
  • Inspiration from Real Life:
Chak De! India draws heavily from the experiences of Mir Ranjan Negi, the former Indian hockey coach, and his work with the Indian women's hockey team.
  • Not a Direct Remake:
While inspired by the sports drama genre and some shared themes with Miracle, Chak De! India is not a direct remake or a scene-by-scene copy of the Hollywood film. It has its own unique narrative, characters, and cultural context. "
