Lagna bhi toh chahiye we discussed smiley14 and waise bhi as far as books are concerned, our thoughts are kinda similar so I really hope we enjoy reading this one! smiley36

And we can revisit the pacing as well. Like if we feel the book lends itself to faster pacing or is interesting enough that we can speed it up a bit, we update the finish date to sooner so we can get on to the next one sooner (& maybe do more than 2!)

Aye aye, captain smiley16smiley40

Looking forward to reading a thriller with you coz I feel that has more discussion material than romance. But yeah this sounds great!

Okay Lizzie. Do we need a star rating/quotes for the books like we had for the previous months ?

Quotes aren't essential but we can always post a few if something strikes us as meaningful or thought-provoking. I usually highlight parts of the book that stand out so I might post them. Yeah the rest isn't a must - star rating or review, but I'll keep doing them on the sheet (I just like to remember why I did/ didn't like a book later & the reviews help smiley36)

Yeah, I highlight the quotes I like as well! But I don't leave a review because I get influenced by reviews, you know ? Like if someone did not really like a book, or if I see a lot of negative reviews, it makes me reconsider reading the book.

I tend to be generous with the stars, so I don't do much of that either smiley36 like what seems to be a 4 star to me might be a mere 2 star or vice versa.

I'm the opposite - I'm really stingy with my stars. smiley36 But yeah I don't leave reviews on GR on any open platform - just here on the sheet (& that's more for myself, so I can recall what i felt about a book). And on GR I usually tend to round up my rating rather than round down (since GR doesn't allow half stars)

Ahh now I remember why I shelved this a I got annoyed at the stereotyping & subtle racism - like the Indian coworkers being so painfully shy 🙄 and the other Asian coworker bringing in very strongly smelling food for lunch. The HR has a policy against that? I’ve never heard of something like this - it seems racist when DEI is the big thing all companies talk about. Ugh!

But also this is set in Canada and the author I Canadian (I think) so hopefully there are some little nuggets here - so far I could totally relate to Calla’s mom’s depression living out the wild Alaskan winters with short, short days when you literally want to beg for a few more hours of sunlight.
