Chapter 5: Mohabbat Dobara

The sky in Shimla had never looked more alive.

It had rained early in the morning, leaving behind a silvery dew on the resort’s manicured lawns. Geet stood by the French window of her room, watching droplets slide down the glass as if mimicking the path of the tears she'd cried the night before.

But today, her tears weren’t born of pain. They were cleansing. They carried with them the ghosts of heartbreak, betrayal, and abandonment.

In their place remained something delicate.

Hope.

A second chance.

Her phone buzzed with a message from Maan.

Maan: “Good morning. Would you like to walk with me? There’s something I want to show you.”

Geet stared at the message, her heart thudding. She typed slowly.

Geet: “Where?”

Maan: “Meet me at the gazebo near the cliff. 10 minutes?”

She stared at the time. 9:50.

Without another thought, she pulled on a soft lavender shawl and stepped out.

The gazebo overlooked the valley, where a thousand pine trees bowed in the morning breeze. Maan stood near the railing, dressed in a charcoal grey sweater, his hair still damp from a shower. His back was to her, but she knew he felt her presence.

He turned slowly when her footsteps approached.

“You came,” he said softly.

She nodded, wrapping the shawl around her tightly. “You said you wanted to show me something.”

Maan smiled and pulled out a sketchbook from his bag. He handed it to her without a word.

Geet opened it—and her breath caught.

It was filled with pencil sketches.

Of her.

Sleeping. Laughing. Walking through a field of wildflowers. Dancing in the rain. Sitting by the fire in his old apartment. Reading a book at a café.

Moments from a love long lost. Moments she thought only she remembered.

“You used to sketch me?” she whispered.

“I never stopped,” he replied. “Every time I missed you, I drew you. It was the only way I could feel close.”

Geet’s fingers trembled as she flipped through the pages. “Why show me this now?”

“Because you have a right to know… you never left my heart, Geet. Not even for a second.”

Her eyes met his — full of emotion, but also laced with hesitation. “This… whatever we are trying to rebuild… it won’t be easy.”

“I don’t want easy,” Maan said. “I want real. Even if it’s slow. Even if it’s fragile. I just want you.”

A long silence passed.

Then, softly, she said, “One step at a time.”

He smiled.

The day passed in a blur of sangeet rehearsals, decor meetings, and last-minute crises. Yet beneath the surface, something had changed.

Geet and Maan were no longer strangers passing each other in silence.

They were two halves trying to remember how to become whole again.

But not everyone was pleased.

In the far end of the resort garden, Aryan stood watching the two from a distance. His friend and cousin, Rohit, joined him.

“I heard you postponed the engagement,” Rohit said.

Aryan gave a stiff nod.

“You sure about that?”

Aryan’s eyes remained on Geet. “She deserves clarity. I deserve honesty. And if her heart still beats for someone else… I’d rather know now than after the wedding.”

Rohit sighed. “You’re a better man than most.”

Aryan smiled faintly. “I’m just a man who doesn’t want to live a lie.”

That evening, as twilight dipped the hills into violet hues, Geet and Maan walked along the winding path near the old church behind the resort. It was quiet here, away from the wedding madness.

Geet looked at him thoughtfully. “Do you ever wonder what would’ve happened if we hadn’t separated?”

“All the time,” Maan admitted. “I imagine us living in a small flat, fighting over the blanket, burning our first dinner, decorating our first tree…”

Geet chuckled. “You always imagined the details.”

He looked at her. “Because you were always the dream.”

She grew quiet, heart aching at the intensity in his eyes.

Then, gently, she said, “We can’t change the past, Maan. But maybe… just maybe… we can still rewrite our future.”

A silence fell again — but this one was warm.

He reached out carefully, taking her hand in his.

No promises.

No rushing.

Just presence.

The next day was the mehendi ceremony. The resort burst with color — orange marigolds, golden drapes, women in vibrant lehengas dancing under the sun.

Geet, dressed in a deep green anarkali with her hair braided to one side, sat quietly as the mehendi artist applied intricate patterns to her palms.

Meera leaned in, teasing, “Should I ask them to write ‘Maan’ in the design?”

Geet blushed fiercely. “Meera!”

“Too soon?”

Geet laughed, then fell silent.

Across the courtyard, Maan stood watching her. And even though he couldn’t hear the joke, her laugh made his chest tighten.

Just then, Aryan approached him.

There was a pause.

Neither man spoke for a moment.

Then Aryan said, “You love her.”

Maan turned to face him, straightening. “I do.”

Aryan nodded, exhaling. “Then don’t hurt her again.”

“I won’t,” Maan said quietly. “Not this time.”

Aryan looked down. “Good. Because if you do… you won’t just break her. You’ll destroy her belief in love.”

The words struck home.

Maan nodded solemnly. “I understand.”

Aryan gave a tight smile. “She deserves the kind of love that doesn’t walk away.”

And with that, he turned and left.

________________________________________

That night, under the starlit canopy where the couple’s sangeet would happen the next evening, Maan found Geet alone, gazing up at the sky.

“Do you think,” she asked softly, “people like us get second chances?”

“I don’t think,” he whispered, coming to stand beside her. “I believe.”

She looked at him.

And finally, without words, she leaned into him — letting her head rest against his shoulder.

Maan wrapped his arm around her, holding her close.

No confessions were needed.

Because some moments speak for themselves.

And tonight, under a sky filled with constellations and redemption, love began again.

Chapter 5

Amazing and Truthful Chapter

Aryan though hurt is truly a greater man and the fact that he tells Maan

not to hurt Geet this time because it will truly destroy her

I like the warning yet advise given to Maan

while Maan and Geet are slowly getting more comfortable with each other again

wow Maan actually used to draw Geet as part of his memories with her

that shows just how he truly missed her and loves her

Geet is right by saying they should take a step at a time to rebuild themselves

and their love especially the trust

Chapter 5

glad that Geet is now has hope

of cos Geet was amazed seeing Maan's sketches of her

it was filled with moments

Geet's reaction was reasonable

liked Maan reply

Geet's question was anticipated

he was correct that she has a right to know

she had a valid point

so Maan does not want easy and just wants her

glad that they are taking this one step at a time

admire Aryan

he wants what is best for both of them

its better that he knows now that after the wedding

wonderful that Geet and Maan are spending time together

her curiosity was justified

appreciate that Maan was direct with her

agree with Geet that they cannot change the past but can rewrite their future

adore Meera teasing Geet

so Aryan spoke to Maan

pleased that he warned Maan not to hurt Geet again

he gave Maan good advice

Maan and Geet have a second chance
