First of all Thanks to everyone who like and comment. Here you go

Chapter 1: Shaadi Ki Tayari

The golden light of morning spilled through the glass windows of La Belle Weddings, casting a warm glow on fresh white roses arranged neatly on the center table. The scent of marigolds and eucalyptus danced with the crisp air of Shimla, where winter flirted with spring. Inside the glass-paneled office, Geet Handa flipped through a bridal mood board, her brows slightly furrowed in concentration.

“Pastels for the Mehendi,” she murmured, half to herself.“Lavender and mint. And fairy lights—hundreds of them.”

“Geet!” came Meera’s voice, her assistant and best friend. "The Mehra family just called. The venue has been confirmed. They want to meet you at 4 for the decor layout.”

Geet looked up, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.“Perfect. We’re on schedule, then.”

Everything in her life, lately, was on schedule. She liked it that way—organized, neat, under control.

And yet, something inside her still felt… restless.

She stood and walked toward the window, arms folded. Outside, the hilltops gleamed under the sunlight. A couple walked by holding hands, laughing. For a moment, Geet’s smile faltered.

“Counting the days, aren’t you?” Meera teased, stepping beside her.

Geet turned, startled. “What?”

“Till your own wedding. Two months to go, bride-to-be.”

“Oh,” she chuckled lightly, her eyes dimming for just a heartbeat. “Yes. Two months.”

Aryan. Dr. Aryan Mehra. Her fiancé.

Perfect on paper—gentle, respectable, understanding. Their families approved. He had proposed during a medical camp, and Geet had said yes without much hesitation.

It wasn’t a whirlwind. It wasn’t a fairytale. It was calm. Safe.

But it wasn’t… fire.

She shook the thought away.

“I’m meeting Aryan for lunch. Want to join us?” Meera asked.

Geet shook her head. “You go ahead. I need to finalize floral combinations for the new client.”

“Oh right, the Oberois. High-end. Destination wedding, right?”

“Yes. They’re flying down tomorrow.”

“And the groom’s father wants some hotshot architect from Delhi to design the mandap structure. I’ve emailed you the name.”

Geet nodded absentmindedly, returning to her desk.

As Meera left, Geet clicked open the email and scrolled tothe attachment. A portfolio PDF loaded on her screen: sharp lines, stunning modern structures intertwined with traditional designs. It was impressive.

Her eyes reached the final page. The architect’s name was listed in bold letters:

Maan Singh Khurana – Principal Architect, Khurana Designs, Delhi.

Geet’s fingers froze on the mouse.

Her heartbeat missed a beat. Then another.

It couldn’t be. No. This was just a coincidence. A name, that's all.

But no—no one else carried that name with such weight. Such precision. Such pain.

She stared at the screen, unblinking, as if the letters would rearrange themselves into something less haunting.

But they stayed.

Maan Singh Khurana.

The man she once loved. The man she once hated. The man she could never forget.

The cold wind brushed her cheeks as she stepped out on her balcony that evening. Shimla had turned misty; the sky painted itself in shades of grey and pink. Geet wrapped a shawl around her shoulders, but it couldn't warm the sudden chill inside her chest.

How long had it been? Five years?

Since that fight. That silence. That goodbye.

She had never told anyone about him. Not Meera, not Aryan. Maan had been her private storm. The kind you survive, but never quite recover from.

She remembered how he used to call her “Miss Hoshiyar.” Always teasing. Always watching. And then, there were moments of stillness—his fingers brushing her cheek as if afraid she’d vanish… the sound of his heartbeat under her ear as they sat beneath a streetlight in Delhi, sharing secrets like children.

But life had torn them apart like pages from an unfinished novel.

Her phone buzzed. A message from Aryan.

“Dinner at 8? Thought we could try the new Italian place. 😊”

She stared at the message a long time before typing back:

“Sure. See you then.”

The smiley felt like a lie.

The next morning arrived too quickly. Shimla welcomed the Oberois with a crisp breeze and hot almond tea. Geet was already at the venue—an old hilltop estate transformed into a royal-style resort.

She paced the hall, clipboard in hand. Her staff was busy setting up for the walkthrough.

“Geet ma’am,” one of the interns whispered, “the architect has arrived.”

“Show him in,” she replied, keeping her tone professional.

She turned to adjust a floral drape, heart thudding. He wouldn't be the same. He’d have changed. Maybe he wouldn’t even recognize her.

Then she heard it.

That voice.

Low, composed, with just the hint of arrogance that used to both annoy and thrill her.

“I believe this is the design area?”

She turned slowly.

And there he was.

Maan Singh Khurana.

Wearing a charcoal grey coat, with his usual unshaven stubble, and those same intense eyes that used to pierce right through her soul.

His gaze met hers.

The moment stretched, heavy with memories neither of them dared to breathe aloud.

He didn’t say her name.

But his eyes did.

Geet.

Chapter 2: Dard Jo Chhupa Tha

Silence.

It lingered like a forgotten melody between them, playing all the unsaid words they never dared to speak.

Maan stood tall and composed, his hands folded behind him as he surveyed the grand hall. But his eyes, those dark eyes, never strayed far from Geet’s face.

She, on the other hand, struggled to hold the clipboard steady. Her fingers trembled slightly, hidden behind perfectly arranged posture.

“Mr. Khurana,” she managed, her voice steady but low, "Welcome to Shimla.”

There. Formal. Professional. Unemotional.

He arched an eyebrow, as if amused by her mask. “It’s been awhile, Miss Handa.”

The way he said her name—it made her skin prickle. Calm. Controlled. But lined with something else. Something only she would recognize.

Pain.

She nodded curtly. “The Oberois are expecting us to finalize the mandap design today. The client wants something traditional, with a contemporary layout.”

“Of course,” Maan replied smoothly, pulling out a leather folder from his coat. “I’ve brought three layout options. We can go through them.”

Business. They both clung to it like a lifeboat in a stormy sea of emotions.

Geet led him to the conference room at the end of the hallway. The sunlight streamed in through the French windows, illuminating the mahogany table. She placed her clipboard down and gestured toward the seat opposite hers.

As he sat, Maan studied her closely. She looked… different. More mature. Her long hair was tied in a loose bun, a tiny diamond glinting on her ring finger. But the spark in her eyes—the one that used to light up just for him—was missing.

Or maybe buried.

He laid out the designs on the table. “The first one is inspired by Rajasthani architecture, with carved domes and open lattice. The second draws from Mughal symmetry. And the third—”

“Let’s go with the Mughal one,” Geet interrupted quietly, not looking up.

Maan paused. “You haven’t even—”

“I know your style. You’ve probably poured your soul into the symmetry of this one,” she said, finally raising her eyes. “Like you used to.”

That caught him off guard. For a flicker of a second, his calm cracked.

“So,” he said after a beat, leaning back, “you’ve been following my work?”

She stood abruptly. “We’ll finalize the mandap and floral arrangement by evening. I’ll let the Oberois know.”

“Geet—” he said, standing too.

She froze.

It was the first time he had said her name in five years.

And it still hurt.

Later that evening, after the formalities were over and the guests had dispersed, Geet sat alone in her office, her fingers tracing the edge of an old silver pendant tucked away in her drawer. A tiny “M” engraved at the back.

It had been his first gift to her—on her birthday during college. Back when things were simple. When love was uncomplicated. When Maan used to fight the world for her.

Before ego, pride, and silence tore them apart.

Before he left.

Before she taught herself how to live without him.

She closed the drawer slowly, trying to push the memories back where they belonged.

But they clawed their way to the surface.

Five Years Ago – Delhi University

Geet ran through the college corridor, a wide smile on her face as she held up the letter in her hand. “Maan!” she called, laughing.

He turned, catching her effortlessly as she flung herself into his arms.

“I got it! The event planner internship in Mumbai!” she beamed.

“That’s amazing,” Maan said, pride glowing in his eyes. “You deserve it.”

“But it’s three months,” she said, her voice softening. "We'll be apart.”

“I’ll wait,” he whispered, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Just promise me you’ll come back.”

She nodded.

But she didn’t know promises were so fragile.

Two weeks later, a message arrived.

“Geet, I need space. We’re not working. Don’t contact me again. – Maan”

No explanation. No warning.

Just silence.

She had cried for days, pacing the Mumbai streets like a ghost. But pride—her oldest defense—had kept her from calling. If he didn't want her, she wouldn’t beg.

Later, she heard he left the city. Started a firm in Delhi. Buried himself in work.

She did the same.

Back in the present, Geet was still staring at the drawer when her phone buzzed.

Aryan.

“Missed you at dinner. Everything okay?”

She blinked.

Had it really been that late?

“Sorry. Client meeting ran long. Will call you in a bit.”

She didn’t call. Not yet.

Instead, she stepped out onto the resort lawn, where the staff was dismantling the mock-up stage. Lights twinkled like fireflies. The air was cool, almost lonely.

And there he was.

Maan stood at the edge of the lawn, watching the hills fade into the night. Hands in his pockets. Silent. As if he belonged to the shadows.

He turned as she approached.

“You always preferred night skies,” he said quietly. “Said they made you feel closer to the stars.”

She didn’t reply.

After a pause, he added, “You look… happy.”

Another lie.

“I am,” she said, too quickly.

“With him?”

She inhaled sharply. “It doesn’t matter.”

“It matters to me.”

Her defenses cracked. “You don’t get to ask that, Maan. Not after walking away like I meant nothing. Not after erasing me like I was a chapter you regretted writing.”

He looked away, jaw clenched. “I thought I was protecting you.”

“From what?” she snapped, voice rising. “From love?”

“From myself,” he whispered.

She stared at him. The man who once made her feel like the only woman in the universe now looked so broken. So full of regret.

“I loved you, Maan,” she said, voice trembling. “And you left me with no closure. Just silence.”

He looked at her then, really looked. “I never stopped loving you, Geet.”

The words landed like a thunderclap.

But before she could speak, Meera’s voice echoed in the distance, calling her name.

Geet stepped back, her walls rebuilding brick by brick.

“I have a wedding to plan,” she said coldly. “Let’s keep things professional.”

And she walked away, leaving Maan alone in the darkness—again.

But this time… he wouldn’t let her go so easily.

Chapter 3: Waqt Ka Khel

The morning mist clung to the hills like a reluctantgoodbye, casting a dreamy veil over Shimla. Geet stepped out onto the balconyof the resort suite, a steaming cup of chai in her hands. Her breath fogged inthe cold air, but her heart was warmer than usual — though she didn’t want toadmit why.

Last night’s conversation with Maan lingered in her mindlike an unfinished melody. The rawness in his voice, the vulnerability in hiseyes — it wasn’t something she could forget easily. Nor was the pain hispresence resurfaced.

But she had moved on.

She had to.

Her phone buzzed with a message.

Aryan:

“Mom wants to finalize the guest list. Shall we meet todayevening?”

She typed back quickly:

“Yes, 6 PM at Café Bloom.”

As she placed the phone down, her eyes drifted back towardthe horizon. The same thought kept circling in her head.

Why now, Maan? Why did fate bring you back now?

Inside the resort’s event hall, preparations were in full swing. The Oberoi wedding was becoming the talk of the town, and Geet wanted everything to be perfect. She walked among the decorators, giving instructions, adjusting drapes, correcting a flower arrangement that didn’t sit quite right.

And then — she felt it.

A presence.

Even without looking, she knew.

Maan.

He stood at the other end of the hall, deep in discussion with the structural team, gesturing toward a miniature model of the mandap. His voice was calm, commanding. His mind, clearly focused on work.

But when his eyes lifted and found her — the world paused again.

Just for a second.

Just enough to make her heart betray her.

She turned away quickly and buried herself in fabric samples.

A few hours later, Meera cornered her near the entrance.

“Okay. Spill.”

Geet blinked. “What?”

Meera crossed her arms. “You’ve been zoning out all morning, you rejected two flower combos you picked yourself last week, and you just said yes to hanging gold disco balls over the mandap. Geet. What’s going on?”

Geet sighed. “Nothing. Just wedding stress.”

Meera narrowed her eyes. “Does this wedding stress have anything to do with a certain tall, broody architect with a voice like dark chocolate?”

Geet groaned. “Please stop being poetic. And yes. It's him.”

Meera gasped. “Wait… You mean the Maan?”

Geet nodded silently.

Meera’s expression softened. “You never told me what really happened.”

Geet looked away. “Because I never understood it myself.”

Meanwhile, Maan stood alone by the sketching table in his temporary workspace. He stared at the mandap blueprint but his thoughts were far from professional.

Geet.

Her name repeated like a prayer he wasn’t sure he deserved to utter.

He remembered everything. The way she used to call him “dusht danav” when he teased her. The way she curled up beside him during cold Delhi nights. The dreams they had once painted together — a small home, lots of laughter, silly fights, shared coffee.

But he had destroyed it all.

Not out of hatred. Out of fear.

When his father had collapsed during that business scandal, Maan had taken the burden of saving Khurana Constructions alone. His pride wouldn't allow him to lean on anyone — not even the woman he loved.

So he had cut her off. Told himself it was for her own good.

But all it had done was leave two hearts half-broken.

And now, watching her from a distance, he knew…

He wanted her back.

That evening, Café Bloom buzzed with soft music and the scent of roasted coffee beans. Aryan sat across from Geet, gently holding her hand across the table.

“I was thinking… honeymoon in Italy?” he asked, smiling.

Geet forced a smile. “That sounds lovely.”

He studied her face. “You’ve seemed… distant lately. Everything alright?”

Geet hesitated.

“Yes. Just a big wedding coming up. And work is intense right now.”

Aryan nodded slowly. “You can tell me anything, Geet. I know we're still learning each other… but I want to be someone you lean on. Not someone you perform for.”

His words, gentle and sincere, touched her.

Aryan was kind. Supportive. Exactly the kind of man she should be grateful for.

But her heart? It was still stuck in a different chapter.

And that realization shook her.

“I’ll try,” she whispered. “I promise.”

Back at the resort, Maan stood near the bonfire pit on the lawn, reviewing lighting samples under the moonlight. A quiet rustle behind him made him turn.

Geet.

She walked toward him slowly, her dupatta swaying with the cool breeze. Her eyes unreadable.

“I need to talk,” she said.

He nodded silently.

They walked together — not holding hands, not touching —just side by side like shadows that had finally found their way back into the same frame.

“I don’t understand why you’re back in my life,” she said.“I was finally at peace. Or at least I thought I was.”

“I didn’t plan this, Geet. But now that I’m here… I can't pretend anymore. I was a coward. I hurt you. I left without explaining because I thought I was doing the right thing. But the truth is… I missed you every single day.”

Her throat tightened. “Why now? Why say all this when I'm engaged?”

“Because I can't lie anymore. And because…” He paused. “I still love you.”

Tears welled in her eyes — not out of joy, not out of sorrow— but from the storm of confusion inside her.

“I’m getting married, Maan.”

“I know,” he whispered. “But if even a part of your heart still remembers us… I’ll wait. No matter how long.”

His words hung in the air as Geet looked away, struggling to breathe.

Somewhere deep inside, a part of her had always waited too.

But now?

It was waqt ka khel — time’s cruel game.

And the next move… would change everything.

Thank you for lovely comments and likes. Here's the next chapter.
