Hello all,

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on IF. However as my creative bug has bitten me again I am excited to write this new fanfiction. This will be my first for the Mahabharat based.

Before starting I would like to add that I have full respect for Mahabharat and draw inspiration for my life situation from it on multiple occasions. This story is touching base the emotional aspect of it.

It is a rebirth story which explores the life in the new birth. Please share your comments

Prologue

The night was thick with the scent of damp earth and wildgrass, the forest stretching endlessly beneath a sky heavy with clouds. The forest was thick with shadows as Yash and Pritha stood silently, their hearts heavy with a decision neither truly wanted to make. In their arms, they held their fourth son, a fragile newly born in a bundle they were about to leave behind, cast out because the horoscope had declared him a threat to their firstborn, Karan.

Yash stood beside her, his face a mask of stoic pain. “Are you sure, Pritha?” His voice was low, almost a whisper, like speaking louder might shatter the fragile moment.

She nodded, tears slipping down her cheeks. “The astrologer was clear. This child will be the ruin of our firstborn, Karan. If we keep him, he will bring destruction to everything we’ve built.”

“This is for the family,” Yash said softly, his voice trembling as unshed tears threatened to spill. “To protect what we’ve built.”

Pritha’s tears fell freely as she placed the baby gently beneath the sprawling roots of a banyan tree, whispering, “May the gods watch over you, my child.”

They turned away, the sound of the night swallowing their sorrow.

Instead of Karan being the abandoned one, another child is left for the sake of Karan.

Years later, in the dusty courtyard of the orphanage, a ten-year-old boy sat alone, knees drawn to his chest, eyes clouded with memories he couldn’t quite understand. Blurry flashes of a mother’s face and brothers’ laughter haunted him, overwhelming his young mind and sometimes making his head spin with dizziness.

Nearby, a nine-year-old girl who had come to the orphanage with her billionaire father Rajvendra Panchal and twin Krish watched the boy with curious eyes watched him from a distance. Most children avoided the quiet boy who never played, who sometimes seemed lost in another world. But she wasdifferent. Without knowing his name, she edged closer, a gentle curiosity pulling her forward.

One afternoon, as the sun burned low, the boy’s vision overwhelmed him — a sudden wave of dizziness knocked him off balance, and he collapsed onto the dusty ground.

The girl gasped, rushing to his side. “Hey, are you okay?” she called, her voice trembling with concern.

He didn’t answer, eyes closed tight as the blurry images swirled in his mind.

She stayed with him, cradling his head, whispering softly, “You’re not alone... I’m here.”

Caregivers soon arrived, drawn by her calls for help, and the boy was helped inside.

In the days that followed, Krishna kept returning, offering silent support during his moments of fear and confusion. When the visions struck, she held his hand firmly and whispered, “We’ll get through this together.”

Weeks later Rajvendra Panchal came to the orphanage with his daughter Krishnaa, this time on her insistence to meet Arjun. Moved by their connection and the boy’s struggle, Rajvendra decided to adopt him.

“Would you like to come live with us?” Rajvendra asked the boy gently.

The boy looked at the girl beside him — the one who had silently become his anchor — and then nodded.

From that moment on, Krishnaa’s protectiveness grew fierce, not as a sister, but as a guardian of the boy burdened with memories no child should carry. And Arjun, began to believe that maybe, just maybe, he had found a home.

The abandoned child is Arjun. How does he remember anything? He was too young to have any memory.
