No, in govt job exams, a reserved category candidate will still remain a reserved candidate even if they score the general cutoff. Gor example, in the UPSC, if a candidate scores general cutoff in the Prelims, even then he/she will remain a reserved candidate and will pass even if s/he gets the reserved cutoff in the Mains exam.
@bold, yes there are entrance exams which are manually checked, but the copies on those entrance exams doesnt mention the surname (or even the name) of the candidate, forget the caste, the teachers can not even understand if the candidate is the male or female. So how does the discrimination come into picture?
@red who said that? Any candidate who scores above the cut off of general will be considered a general candidate unless s/he has used the age relaxation criteria (like if you can apply till the age of 32 and 5 years relaxation is given to SC//ST and the candidate here is 35 years of age)
About your point, yes if a candidate gets general cut off in prelims, he she will still be considered for reservation during mains, however if a candidate doesn't clear prelims in general and clears it under SC cut off, and in the mains+interview, s/he gets above the general cut off, s/he will be taken as a General candidate. S/he will not fill in a spot from the reserved category but from the general category.
