I wouldn’t exactly classify marrying someone 15 years older than you—with a significant power dynamic difference—as 'lucky.' That’s an entire generational gap.

I like this director's acknowledgement at the same time his firm stand on the work he did unlike the SMD director.

Personally, his work was flawless in terms of direction. The aesthetics and frames were outstanding. His editor, ADs, cinematographer all deserve credit.

As a director, he can change a story here and there and at the end it's a writer's vision he is trying to execute.

My take on the so called flaws is that it's human nature for many and shown what happens close to reality. One loves their family no matter how toxic or how much inner fights they have. You can label their act as wrong or evil but you cannot suddenly stop loving them or caring for them. This story was never about Mahi or Asad or Nashwa or Burhan. It was a POV of Barkat, bakthtiar and Ammar. Ammar was the story. But I understand why people are upset. They'd shown so many filmy aspects. Like Burhan a big barrister falling and caring for Nashwa while her mom Bisma gets Asim. Then Burhan just picking her up from the road. They could have just made him her mentor. That why when he took the case and tried to free her it wouldn't look distasteful in a personal capacity?

Also, two things needed more clear establishment.

One, criminal lawyers take all kinds of cases. Shakal pe kisi ka criminal nahi likha hota. They should have shown Burhan in Court once or twice to establish that he takes all sorts of cases.

And Nashwa as a young intern lawyer may not have choice at the beginning of her career to choose cases. She works for a firm and it's like any other company. You deal with the case handed to you. You cannot just say yeh to criminal hai. It could be a open and shut case but you still need to have someone represent them. But given the condition of our South Asian countries, I'd say Nashwa later on will have more than enough chances to only represent victims (that she knows outright) if she gets her own practice.

Do you remember the wife of the textiles owner, who I believe a few months ago killed a father and daughter in a hit and run car accident and she was on ice? She got off by paying off and I'm sure threats. Another one I read yesterday was that he killed his family (sons, dil, wife) while high on drug and having withdrawal...

But the truth is, criminal lawyers are not social activists. They should have made it clear. Like myself a few others picked it up but it seems many of the viewers do not get things unless explicitly shown or said. When it's explicit maza chala jata hai. I like to learn through the story. I guess this is an audience problem. Unko mostly meme se mohabbat type ki above analysis ki ability ya interpretation mein issues hote hai.

Second, they should have shown more clearly how life long abuse turns kids into situations like this. We know there are some people who don't give kids vaccines here. They just believe in just praying to God. These are white ultra religious people. Recently, child died from measles or something. They refused to take kids to the hospital for even fevers. Then there are South Asian parents from unfortunately lower socio-economical background with religious (or not) poverty situations where they don't send kids to school and make them literate or educated citizens by purpose. They're sent to madrasas or other religious institutions depending on their religion/belief.

In both these examples, it's robbing children of their human rights! Health and education, the two most important things for a human to grow as a holistic being.

My point is, dado bakhtiyar and even Sidra robbed Ammar as a child, teenager and a young adult of self regulation skills and teaching him about boundaries and consequences. Anyone who deals with children will know if they're not corrected then it turns into huge issues later on. We see so many spoiled kids or teens at desi parties where the kid throws tantrums and many parents enable the kid while some gentley but firmly correct them. Basically, they robbed his right to function properly as a human and an adult by never showing him. We have seen cases of people growing up in jungles where they were abandoned and they have no social skills or any skill other than survival. They act like animals and their environment. You are what you eat and what your growing environment is.

Not at all taking away personal accountability. He was guilty the moment he decided to order the drink even if he didn't partake in the act, it made him as the same if not worse than them. Though enabling us always worse

But the truth about the Asad murder is, he is not a psychopath or something. He is an unregulated social danger who doesn't know how to react to situations because he has only been taught to solve things in absolute and berated for trying or existing. His father who is actually clever would never act this way. Neither would dado. They're evil and controlled. They use their words, power and blackmailing but can visualize future and consequences if they were to kill people . They know how to behave in front of people and how to stay in society with a mask on. But Ammar doesn't. If Ammar was clever or even a psychopath he'd hide it well. He is an unregulated tragedy to himself and others.

Yaar Ahmed has an amazing personality offscreen

Like seriously to die for personality

Anyone would be lucky to be his wife

And that's why I badly wanted Ahna ro happen

Coz yumna is also like that

Exceptional personality yet very generous and down to earth and golden hearted

@bold omg what? I want to read up on this case.

I read somewhere that Ammar is supposed to be on meth, on meth people behave exactly like Ammar did with Asad.

Ammar is a product of the internalised misogyny in our society, Larko ko sub maaf

Looks interesting. I really really hope, they don't rush the ending. I hope the last two episodes are mega episodes .
