A brave pigeon facing two aggressive hawks!! Well. What to say about that? The most ignoble day in recent American history. It looks no more edifying even many hours later.
Donald Trump’s treatment of Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office has left the entire world along with some Americans reeling!!
Zelensky wants US to 'stand more firmly' on Ukraine's side, is it true?
Why Trump and J.D. Vance tried to bully over Zelonsky?
Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, was harassed in the Oval Office by American President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance for having the audacity to suggest that perhaps, perhaps, possibly one of the most infamously dishonest and malevolent actors in world politics should be approached with a degree of scepticism.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky leaves the White House after meeting with US President Donald Trump, in Washington, DC, February 28, 2025.
Jacqui Heinrich, Fox News' senior White House correspondent, reported that Trump “kicked Zelensky out” of the White House. She also claimed that the lunch originally prepared for the leaders would now be eaten by the press staffers.
The White House meeting between the two leaders opened on a warm, diplomatic note as they discussed the minerals deal between the U.S. and Ukraine. Tensions flared when Vice President JD Vance accused Zelensky of being “ungrateful” and "disrespectful." Trump also slammed Zelensky, saying the Ukrainian leader was “gambling with World War III.”
That was the catalyst for what happened at the White House yesterday. Mr Zelensky, clearly frustrated by Mr Trump’s credulity, when it comes to Vladimir Putin, sought to bring attention to the Russian dictator’s record of treachery. Of breaking agreements. Of lying.
It came after a war of words in the Oval Office in which Trump told Zelensky to make a deal with Russia "or we are out" and US Vice-President JD Vance accused him of being ungrateful, which was denied by Zelensky.
He noted that Trump wanted to end the war, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, but added that no-one wanted peace more than Ukraine.
The ill-fated White House meeting was intended to precede the signing of a deal to give the US access to Ukraine's deposits of rare earth minerals. Instead, Zelensky was told to leave early before it could be signed.
European leaders rallied behind Zelensky, but Nato's secretary general said he must "find a way" to restore his relationship with Trump.
Who is right and who is wrong? What will be the consequences?
