I can't really speak Sanskrit and Marathi (at least not fluently) but I can understand them... kinda similar to how it is for you with Gujarati. Would have probably used google for some help if required smiley36. I can also understand a bit of Kannada but there's no way I would be able to write in that language... even with google's help smiley37. I'm more familiar with the Devanagari script... so it's easier to learn new languages that follow the same script... rather than the Dravidian languages.

I think most people in India know at least 2-3 languages. We had English, Hindi, Gujarati and Sanskrit in school itself... so it's not some kind of personal accomplishment on my part smiley36.

well that’s true but Sanskrit is very hard. In school they only taught basic Sanskrit. I learned more Sanskrit from the chalisa’s then school smiley36
