Poll # 5: Rafi - Johnny Walker

Hello everyone!

As you all know, Dec 24, will mark the 100th birth anniversary of inarguably the most influential and revered singer in the Hindi Film Industry: Mohammed Rafi.

These polls are in his memory and for us to remember the legacy of songs he left us.

There will be 10 polls with 10 songs each totaling a 100 songs.

There will then be a 11th poll with the winners of each of these polls to decide the overall winner.

Poll # 5 : Rafi's songs filmed on Johnny Walker (Solos and duets)

Johnny and Rafi, Rafi and Johnny- this was a magic combo, much like Rafi & Shammi. Rafi knew just what to do to mimic Johnny's personality, he brought the right nuance and inflection to his tone to match Johnny's acting and onscreen persona. And in the process this duo gave us some iconic songs. I have added some duets too to the list since I felt the other solos weren't that popular and the duets were too well-known to leave out.

I'm aware these are just skimming the surface of Rafi's vast repertoire, but I had to limit it to 10 so some of them are the popular songs, some are my choices and some are songs that I think most people enjoy. If you don't find your favorite here, please don't be disappointed. It's impossible to make polls with such limited choices for Rafi. But do vote for one in the list and share your favorite in the thread.

Along with the polls, I have wanted to do my own tribute to the man, so I have sung the first few lines (mukhda) of each of these songs and will be posting them below each poll.

My apologies if the recording quality is not great - I don't own any fancy equipment and my voice was faltering a bit too off late. But it's earnest, heartfelt and my humble appreciation for a singer I admire greatly.

This was lots of fun. I didn't know Jhonny has all these songs sung by Rafi. And that Rafi sounds different while singing for him
