mitabh Bachchan is unarguably the number one actor in Bollywood. But doesn't it get lonely at the number one spot? It seems that the answer is… positive. Yes Big B may have a brother cum best friend in a well known politician but one wonders how many he has in the film fraternity. Is no one worthy enough to be too close to Bachchan Saab? There could also be this explanation that high-profile people hold grudges for too long! Here are some of the prominent A-listers in Big B's Book Of Bad Names:
Aamir Khan
Aamir entered into this bad book when he openly criticized Black, terming the film to be insensitive and manipulative. He also claimed that the performances were over the top. Amitabh retaliated saying, "Maybe the performances did go over the top of Aamir's head."
Eventually, Aamir requested for an appointment with the Big B himself to clear things up which never happened. But according to industry insiders Aamir gave his best shot at getting back into Amitabh's good books by visiting him at his home after his mother's death.
Shobha De
The lady who has always been the symbol of women's equality has gotten in to fill the dearth of female names in Big B's Book Of Bad Names. Jokes apart , the lady has taken a panga with Amitabh bigtime. When Amitabh launched Shoabha's book Superstar India people wouldn't have dreamt of the impending disaster.
Apparently Amitabh closed his speech with the line "Finding the name of the author in a font larger than that of the title of the book is a conscious and brave beginning" to which Shobha couldn't help but react by questioning Big B right at the event if he were trying to "put her in her place." Big B's reaction in his blog- "It was a compliment to the power of woman, a recognition of the strength of 50% of their presence in society, an acknowledgment of equal if not more opportunity to women in our world and to make it a right for them to share equal space in this otherwise male dominated chauvinist archaic belief."
Big B also went onto speak up for Ash, who according to Shobha was wearing a passable gown with creases. He wrote, "Celebrities are seated in respective special Festival cars to ride in a motorcade almost 50 meters long to a destination just 100 meters away; the crowds, and traffic and paparazzi making this innocuous little journey an hour long ! Sitting on any dress this long would crease."
Anurag Basu
This director said one of the nasty things that could have been ever told to Amitabh. This is the sensational statement he made- "I think the whole magic of Amitji has gone now. I think he should gracefully retire." Of course Amitabh was not gonna let him get away with that. He replied , "I took no one's advice when I wanted to enter the film industry and shall take no one's advice, as to when I should leave it!"
Big B's backlash did not end here, it was continued with the terrifying details of what happened to many others who had chosen to speak ill about Amitabh. Of course, the diplomatist in Amitabh ended the threat with, "I hope and pray that similar fate does not engulf Mr Anurag Basu, for my colleagues inform me that he is a director of great talent and promise!"
Shahtrughan Sinha
The story goes that it all started in 1975 with the films Deewar and Sholay, which were written by Salim – Javed and supposedly keeping Shatrughan Sinha in mind. The projects were surreptitiously taken up by Amitabh, for the good of the films, of course, because they went on to become big hits. Shatrughan never forgave Amitabh and Amitabh was not too keen on earning his pardon either as Shotgun was not invited to Abhishek's wedding. Later, when Amitabh sent a box of mithai to Sinha's place, he promptly sent them back where they came from. The last war in this battle was when Shatrughan accused the Bachchan family of completely taking over the IIFA awards. It ended with Amitabh having the last word through his blogs which just brought to light the six degrees of separation between Raveena's National Award and Sinha's political status.
Shah Rukh Khan
The plot of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham went too far when the onscreen estrangement between the father (played by Amitabh) and the son (played by Shah Rukh) turned into real life cold-war between the two. Amitabh lost his thread of patience when SRK stepped into his shoes for the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Shah Rukh didn't stop here and went on to poke fun at Amitabh's only best friend. Shah Rukh peppered these doings with occasional showers of parties where everyone except the Bachchans were invited. Amitabh unfortunately didn't have his blog thingy going on to retaliate but he did what he could. He gave Shah Rukh a cold-shoulder at public events.
