She can't distance herself from him , because he is distancing himself from her. She has to force him to confront his feelings before she can distance herself from him. If she ignores him now, he will continue avoiding her until elections with no realisation of what he is feeling and then they can do what they want. I know that she has a plan.. and for this she has to communicate with him, but this game is tricky.
