It is known that our Bollywood actors love to experiment with their roles. Here are some actors who have portrayed cool sardars in Bollywood.
Akshay Kumar
He has played a Punjabi character in several films, but this is for the first time he will be seen in a complete Sardar get up. He will be seen sporting a Rs 65 lakh turban on his head. His character has been touted as Akshay's never-seen-before avatar. He has been given a very urbane look in the film. One of the film's usp is his turban. It will have a real diamond studded on it as well. The idea is to make Akshay the coolest Sardar around. Designer Shabina Khan has designed the turban which looks like a crown.
Kamal Hasan
Known for his versatility, Kamal Hasan has always surprised his audience through his performances.
His forthcoming film Dashaavataram will have ten different roles of Kamal Hasan. One of them will be that of a sardar.
Salman Khan
This will be the first time that the most handsome actor of Bollywood, Salman Khan will wear don a turban. He will be seen in a Sardar get up as he is playing the role of a military official in the road-trip movie, Heroes.
Salman did not want to stick a fake beard, thus, he grew his own beard for three weeks and that makes his look more authentic. According to the filmmaker Samir Karnik, his look is supposed to be a surprise element in the film. The make-up and the look of a Sardar has been brilliantly perfected!
Anupam Kher
The versatile actor, Anupan Kher has played several roles in his career. He played the character of Colonel Oberoi in Tanuja Chandra's Hope and Little Sugar. It is believed that he was quite apprehensive of playing a Sardar again because his character in Beckham was so popular.
The sardar in Hope… was a little more realistic and serious as compared to the former. He has also played a Sardar in Karan Rajdan's forthcoming film Mr Bhatti On Chutti.
Sunny Deol
Bollywood's action hero Sunny Deol has portrayed a sardar several times.
After playing Tara Singh in Anil Sharma's Gaddar, he did so again in Jo Bole So Nihal, where he portrayed a sardar policeman who reaches the US, but is unaware of the customs there. He portrayed a funny character in the movie.
Bobby Deol
Bobby Deol sported a beard and turban in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyon. He played Kunaljit Singh in the film. His film 23rd March 1931: Shaheed gave him one more opportunity to sport the beard and turban look.
His sardar look was totally different from his real life modern look. He was excellent in the role of Bhagat Singh.
Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan played a Punjabi army officer in Major Saab. Later, he was seen sporting a beard and turban in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyon.
Both the characters were dignified patriotic characters. He looked amazing in these Sardar get ups.
Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt essayed a role of sardar name Ranjeet Singh in Sarhad Par.
The film had Sanjay Dutt in outstanding dialogues. He was seen as a Sikh patriotic hero, opposite Tabu.
Ajay Devgan
He has hardly got any opportunity to play a Sardar in films except for his patriotic film The Legend Of Bhagat Singh. He played the freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh.
It was a real life character and it is believed that director Rajkumar Santoshi pulled out photographs of the Sikh martyr and compared it with Devgan in the film.
