I agree that the pace, as well as content (drinking, escorts) is not a recipe for high ratings for an 8 pm time slot.

That's a choice that the PH took! They are aware of KRQ's writing style and pace. So, I am assuming they knew who where their target audience.

Bilal Abdullah had so much potential but nothing is good about Bilal right now except his styling and some of his dialogues....

That's the thing. The game has changed so much. Wahaj is an A-lister now. The playing field and rules of games are diff. Comparing Wahaj's choices as A-lister with choices he made as a B-lister serve no purpose. The pool he gets compared to now is different. Expectations are different. As a B-lister Wahaj made the best of the opportunities available to him and left a mark. But can we stay the same about him as an A-lister? Otoh his competitors are playing very smartly and are putting in the blood and sweat. Look at Hamza, Bilal and the choices they are making or the performances they are delivering. Ahad, Fahad, Fawad are also back now. Even Feroze has diversified so much. The bar is now really high. Even if the ratings are flop, their performances are universally appreciated or the shows get acclaim. Mein was a critical failure but at least did fine commercially. But SMD is both a critical and commercial dud despite the starcast and promotions.* Even commercial dramas these days have upped the content game so much that Wahaj's choices look much worse in comparison.

* I know SMD gets ok YT views but for actors at his level, that's the minimum. Khumar had way better TRP and similar YT views and it was considered a dud. ReJ had better TRPs and better YT views than SMD and it's considered a DT flop. By that same metric, SMD is not a success either.

Didn't Bilal gave a flop after IM ? Wasn't Ahad's last show okayish while his comic timing came under scrutiny? Same goes for Feroz too. Fawad's series on Zee5 tanked badly and he barely had anything to offer in that project.

Also, SMD is airing on Geo at a time when the channel itself is struggling compared to it's competitors so the GRPs of Geo are low at this point......YT views are impressive though.

So, what exactly are the parameters over here? Coz the thing is no actor will give continous hits. Wahaj signed only 1 project post TB which is SMD, where he has a performance oriented role. We are yet to find out what is his next project !

I certainly hope his next is of a different genre and preferably a central role with a solid script. Rest, I am not bothered about his contemporaries. They are not horses but actors as Wahaj once said. I will be happy if his next is of a different genre with a good script and role.

When did Sadaf tell Humsha about her brother's condition for Humsha to tell Amar and send him to the airport?

this is how krq has written the script while he is drunk and kadwani made it as signature project.

Before also it happened when Bilal remembers Mirza saab dialogue and throws bottle and then next episode he remembers same dialogue and have tears and drink alcohol and many people were confused at that time

Now two episodes back bilal asked them to throw alcohol bottles and it’s repeated again in last episode.

Next promo bilal says dosti se pata chala mohabbat kya jadoo dialogue . When was even dosti shown?

Sadaf kept distance with ammar and suddenly saying hi to him and asking him to smile.

Others also have same continuity issues with their characters but I’m pointing out bilsad because they are leads and their love story

If writer don’t put effort in writing good characterisations of leads especially male lead who is actually the best one among all what can we expect. Wahaj should get minimum 20 mins in a 40 mins episode.

Lets get real, when Geo said they are making a love story, none really wanted this, we wanted a good story, ghisa pita with 80% time of leads, none wants extraordinary acting, all I wanted was a normal drama

They started with trauma, one death, suicide, terminally ill brother and lead character who will die

I want to understand why do they want their audience to watch it at 8PM?

I do agree with the complaints of not giving the leads enough time together .And yes it’s sad drama but I was ready for that. The pace and lack of screen time the extra screen time given to Humsha and Ammar is my biggest complaint. I was just referring to Wahaj’s portrayal of Bilal which I find to be strong. Also I don’t feel that there are ton of strong roles for male actors in PTV.

SMD is not a niche show. It's a full-out commercial drama. You can't call a drama niche just because only a few people like it. Mega signature projects are 100% commercial endeavours. KRQ is not a niche writer. No one puts this money, starcast and promotions in a niche drama.

PH showed failure in judgment. Na kisi ne script padha na iski shitty treatment dekhi or na hi shitty editing or na hi shitty lighting/filters. The OST was a copy of another one and they didn't even pay attention to that. Unko laga jaise JN ki TRP or 25M views aye the iske bhi ajayenge based on Wahaj ki stardom. But they really overestimated Wahaj ki hype or how invested people were in Mahaj. If this PH has an aqal, Geo wouldn't be lagging behind both ARY and Hum today.

Agreed about the screen time. I think his scenes would make more sense if they were in sequence and given more time. I always thought he was throwing out empty bottles in that scene but most people thought it was his stock and it was never clarified. If you think about it, he’s been on a journey to stop drinking but hasn’t done it cold turkey which makes the most sense. However his scenes are short and just scattered in when there should be more focus on those.

My complaint is not that at all, I am accepting all plot flaws because I know it was written by a madman and directed by someone who thinks highly of himself and produced by someone who probably only watched clips of his son's performance at 2x speed

I am out of pace, storyline and everything, I am not even gonna complain anymore

Right now, my only issue is that Wahaj wasted his one year on this show and there are no scenes to show what he was doing.

He had said we'd love it, that's why I am surprised even more because what exactly is there to love?

The level Wahaj is at, all his competitors have upped their game. No ML at Wahaj's level has an issue of the male lead role not being strong. This problem only crops up in Wahaj's shows.
