Riyadh Set to Host IPL Mega Auction?

I just came across an article discussing the potential hosting of the IPL mega auction in Riyadh on November 24-25. While it’s not officially confirmed by the BCCI yet, it seems like Riyadh is the frontrunner, with Jeddah also in the mix.

This year’s auction coincides with India's first Test in Australia, which might pose scheduling conflicts. However, since the IPL mega auction is set to happen in the afternoon IST, it looks like there won’t be a direct clash, which is a relief!

I find it interesting that the BCCI explored other locations like Dubai, Singapore, and even Vienna before settling on Saudi Arabia. It seems franchises would have preferred the auction to take place in India, but given the circumstances, Saudi Arabia appears to be the best option at this time.

Franchises are also eager for the BCCI to announce the venue soon so they can make travel arrangements. With the deadline for player retention lists approaching on October 31, there’s a lot of urgency.
