They are orthodox people Diya second marriage with gypsy girl or should I say another paani bai in rejesh' s life... Even if it's invalid do you really think rejesh married her to give durga the right or the place of his wife . He doesn't care for his first wife too as he is already involved with other women. So we can assume the real motive behind the marriage drama...as Durga is under the care of powerful family he can't pick her up and violate her easily.
