I have been listening to Ahmed Ali Butt's podcast, and he is always bringing up the issue of copyrights, profit-sharing and royalties. Apparently, when PHs make a show, they sell it to channels and get paid a lumpsum sale price plus some profit-sharing based on revenue from advertising on live TV (high TRP means more ads and a higher price per ad). But PHs don't see a penny of YT revenue. That goes 100% to the channel. The drama copyright also belongs to the channel. Makes sense but I doubt that kaddu might not be taking some % of revenue generated from YT views. Cos he’s into business since long and he must have figured something out for youtube views as well from his other shows.

That is what Ahmed Ali Butt said. Right now, no PH gets a penny of YT views. But now there are discussions going on how this could be changed.

Part 2s of successful IPs or a project with upfront huge branding are two types of projects where PHs can have leverage to negotiate YT revenue sharing upfront and have it written in contracts.

When TB was first sold to GEO, it was a standard 8 pm product and contracts would have been standard too.

Don't know why whenever Yumhaj fans talk about their bond or friendship some people deliberately bring Maya wahaj friendship.

Good luck to Maya and wahaj for their deep and old friendship but how its connects to Yumhaj??

Yumhaj are old friends or not its not a matter of concern.Fans love how they respect each other, always talk about each other with high regards and this is what we love about them and there is no need of comparison. Its not a wining trophy.. We love them and its matters the most ❤❤

Also I think you are missing the point. Marketing a show which is essentially a romance genre based on leads chemistry is nothing wrong. The problem with Mein was not that they talked about chemistry. The problem was that they did the false marketing and tried to fool people. When I say trying to ride 'chemistry wave and freeloading' .. this IS what I mean i.e. thopofying chemistry where it essentially does not fit in like Mein which did not have anything to do with chemistry. So yes doing the right marketing for the right product is important. Romance genre dramas SHOULD HAVE chemistry between the leads and makers can promote it. Ab 'love story' main chemistry nahin hogi tou aur hoga kia phir?

Also, Gentleman was never sold on the basis of chemistry although it IS a love story essentially and it would not have been wrong to do so. Every member of the cast and crew has always talked about how different the writing of Gentleman is and its execution and plot being different. Even in the square table Humayun shut down the question of chemistry from Aamna right away. It is audience that watched the teasers, heard the song tumhari chup and started shipping Munzar/Humna. Though, jori name might have been decided through poll before Gentleman. I mean can anybody imagine that some people actually criticize Gentleman because they think Gentleman was promoted as an action adventure genre but it turned out to be a romance. and yes it IS still the biggest drama of the year for Green.
