Probably TBH I'm not Happy with Amit Shah as home minister either, apart from article 370 abrogation matter he's miserable during Delhi riots, Manipur fiasco etc. He should be given finance because Modi Shah has right chemistry, aur gujjus are good at business and finance. Mamaji should be given home because naram ki naram Sakti haha salt bhi ho Sakta haismiley42

Actually, they are quite clever.

She's consistently chosen for the finance ministry because they know she'll listen to them. It'd be tough with someone else, but they can easily influence her, which is why she's kept on board.

JFYI in 1999, LS Speaker GMC Balayogi did not vote against Govt. Speaker is not allowed to vote unless it’s a tie.

all he did was, Speaker went by the rule book. Giridhar Gamang was a member of the Lok Sabha who became Chief Minister of Orissa. He should have resigned after being CM but did not do so. Instead he attended the Lok Sabha to participate in the trust vote. The BJP members objected and Balayogi could have favoured the ruling party and prevented Gamang from voting.

But Balayogi went by the rules. Technically, Gamang had six months time to resign from the Lok Sabha and became an MLA in Orissa. It was unethical of him to participate in the trust vote but technically he could participate. After consulting the rule books, Speaker left it to Gamang to act according to his conscience. "Gamang’s conscience told him to follow his party's orders, and so he voted against the confidence motion. The government lost by one vote (269-270) and Vajpayee had to resign.

Had Balayogi been a biased speaker, he would have refused permission for Gamang to vote. Then the result would have been 269–269. As Speaker, he would have the casting vote and could have saved the government, but he did not.

I know everyone feels too much taxes..but the fact is our country was always a black market cash driven economy ..GST was essential and important..lets be honest..most of us have gone to places like Crawford market and bought stuff and requested for no bill (atleast I have) now they all have to atleast declare something under GST lol..boond boond se sagar banney..also GST removed cascading double taxation effect....Somethings are just ingrained in us because of corrupt governments ..no one felt like giving tax to their coffers. FMs whoever it may be can never be popular..smiley36 it’s the stupid statements that Nirmala Jee passes which are a bigger problem. The next step though should be consolidation of goods and services under one or two rates..we can’t have 5 rate structure in GST forever. I actually think income taxes should be abolishedsmiley36 that’s the future no direct taxes and more and more coverage under GST.

Sorry it's been a while that I travelled by Train in India so no comments. But looks like trains for the poor also should be increased, as per what you're saying not everybody can afford the ultra posh bullet trains.

Yup that's the exact issue Indian railways are facing, poor can't afford AC bullet dur ki baat hai, and general coached are being reduced by railway minister 🤷

I also want bullet train, but its like a fancy transportation to me, the people who're travelling daily needs affordable coaches 🤷

When I was a kid I used to ask my mum to buy colored chicken near me school costing only a rupee each. My mummy would refuse outright because raising the chick is expensive than buying it. Similarly GST could achieve tax consolidation but tax avoidance loopholes are increasing black money and corruption. Also, taxing middle class shouldn't be the only source of income for the government. It's like punishing the well behaved child.

In that case subsidised fares for the poor and improverished is the solution. As and when affordability improves subsidies can be phased out.
