Oh okay. Now I fully understand the purpose of this track. I thought of it and now I fully understand. Imlie being in the mystery and love story genre was deviating from the main story line. And that is Imlie's career. OG Imlie was always about this. Season 1 did focus on Imlie's career with the help of second male lead and it garnered huge ratings. Season 2 had a smooth track about Imlie's career as she didn't face much hurdles. She already belonged to a rich family. Season 3 is back to focusing on Imlie's career. The way she said padgenge aur patrakar banenge to solve her babu's murder. And this is where Surya as a cop comes in the picture. Now I really want Surya to be Agastya. But based on the shocking TRPs we got, it can take any route.
The writers have kept every possibilities open. 1. Surya as Agastya 2. Surya as an individual character 3. Surya and the possibility of Agastya's return. Everything will be decided on how individual tracks will fare on the charts.
I think SP does want shows to focus on the career of women. It is there for 8 pm show, 9:30 pm show or the 10:30 pm show. And all of these shows get ratings.
Now the question comes why not Agastya and why Surya? Because the track with Agastya wouldn't generate the required drama and punch. That's why they brought Surya who may be or may not be Agastya. The tracks will be decided based on ratings. But I still do think that Agastya as Surya would be a win win situation on both sides.
Now comes to Surya as a character. Nothing much was shown to decipher. But why dance in the middle of duty? 
. That was unnecessary.
Imlie also doesn't seem to be bothered about Binni until and unless she harms the Chaudhurys. She is happy keeping an eye on them from far.
The tracks of this revamped Imlie is strong provided they execute it properly.
