In swaragini at least they showed Ragni married the guy she loved and tried romancing with him in this one she is just shamelessly throwing herself on her jeth. Back in the day I used to watch the show with my grandmother I wouldn’t want to watch Ruhi’s scenes with her. So cringe tbh. If the CVs or RS or anyone from DKP stalks the forum please just get rid of the current track.
Have you seen Jab We Met with Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor? There is a scene in that movie, when Geet is explaining to Aditya, (when he is complaining about his mother having an EMA and leaving his father to be with the guy she loves) that woh "pyar mein thi" .... And when one is truly in love, one does not know what they are doing. Aditya even asks her after listening to her, where she got such nonsensical ideas in her head? And she reminds him, that we are all humans and we do fall prey to our emotions now and then. And that he should forgive his mother and not judge her for what she did for love.
He does not understand it then, but when he falls for Geet, and has to go back to lead a life without her, he understands what LOVE is really capable of. And the choice we make is dependent upon how we use our strengths or our weaknesses.
I do not like Ruhi's character arc in yrkkh, but I still don't think she is shameless or cringeworthy, simply because she is in TRAUMA, and the Goenkas have never addressed this on her behalf. She hungers for love and acceptance from the people she loves. There is a lot of guilt stored in her subconscious brain because of her childhood and the way her mother died. She repeats the blamegame every time things go wrong in her life. Same as she blamed Akshara for everything to do with Aarohi's death, she blames Abhira everytime she sees Armaan choosing Abhira over her.
The very fact that she chose to marry Rohit, when she was grieving her two day loss of Armaan, shows how unstable she really is. Everybody on IF keeps saying what a bad actor this Pratiksha, is. But I think she has acted very well... all her crying scenes show the amount of trauma she carries in her mind, and have you seen her getting happy over being given the chance to plan for the anniversary party with Armaan... her grin was so wide and shiny, that you could tell, she is going off her rails with happiness. Pratiksha has portrayed it so well. Even all her fight scenes with Abhira, are borderline demented. She is always on the edge with her, willing to fall down the abyss.
I believe, the sensitive Abhira, Akshara's daughter Abhira, will be the one to finally understand Ruhi's trauma and leave Armaan in the future, - because she is like her mumma, always doing the right thing - thinking that Ruhi needs Armaan. As for Ruhi, she is really not in love with Armaan either. She just wants him, because she feels she fell for him at first sight. However what she does not realise is that Armaan is not what he portrays on the outside, he may be an intelligent man, a hotshot lawyer, a handsome guy who is followed by many, but essentially he is also a broken man within, with his own personal trauma carrying the burden of keeping his seemingly happy but broken family together. These two just fancied themselves to be in love, but I bet you, once the initial interest wears off, they would have both realised that they are not two halves that would complete each other. They both require things that neither can give the other.
Ruhi needs a man who will put her first before anything else, which actually Rohit can give, because he does not have the restrictions and responsibilities that Armaan has. And Armaan needs a woman who is sensitive enough to delve into his past, understand it and help him heal. Somebody who will value him for himself, and not for his trappings. Abhira has these qualities in spades. And little by little her ways of bonding are becoming his habit. Take for example today's episode... how he kept asking her to opine on the fact that she saw him with another woman, who he had now explained to her as his ex gf. And he was beside himself, that she preferred to keep quiet, instead of fighting with him. Her silence unsettled him so much that he decided to go for a walk but came back to take the shawl that she had told him to take. His going out for a walk was his little attempt at defiance. She is fast becoming habit, and if she even veers off course, he catches it quickly and tries to move heaven and earth to make things alright between them. Everyday he falls more and more deeper for her, and I can't wait to see how devastated he is going to be when he realises that he has fallen for her. Its going to be a bomb on his head, because as romantic stories go, the protagonists usually realise it pretty late, after the water has gone from under the bridge.
And this river in his life is called Abhira.
