Sorry, Maroon, I don't know about "games"...awards aren't not really a topic I'm (regularly) interested in smiley1

So I finally watched Rocky Rani. And Ranveer Singh literally carried the otherwise pretty average movie on his shoulders. Alia’s was not even the second best performance of the movie. Tota Chowdary playing Rani’s dad was the second best. How is it fair to give an award to an actor who is not even the best in the movie?

I like Alia. But yeah, hard to defend this win as it’s undeserved

Ranbir for animal is fine. He was amazing in that movie

Every comment is negative. She doesn't even have one positive comment supporting her. I have never in my life encountered an Alia fan, whether in real life or online. Ask a rando on the street who their fav actress is, and you'll hear actresses from the 90s, 2000s, or even current ones like Katrina or Deepika. I have never heard anyone say You-Know-Aloo is their favorite. At best, people tolerate her or can appreciate her, but she has no stardom that makes people crazy to worship her and treat her like some devi.

Amrita Rao made a wonderful comment about how her popularity with audiences was not bought or PR-driven. She had no godfather or film connections that won her audience love because audience love cannot be won. It has to be earned and when it's genuine, everyone will come out to support you like they did during her career high years. Karan tries to subvert the system by giving his nepobabies everything on a platter and then inflating box office numbers (like he did for Raazi, claiming this was the biggest opener of a solo heroine film lol) and claiming this is proof that audiences have accepted. But all you have to do is talk to real people and read the social media comments to see what the public is really thinking.

I'm honestly convinced, especially based on all the reactions I'm seeing, that this latest stunt is going to be the beginning of the end for KJo and his nepo gang. It's not just audiences who are rejecting them now but even Bollywood's elite and major film families have all turned their backs. They show up for every random event but they couldn't be bothered for what should be the film industry's biggest night. The implication was clear: they aren't interested in giving this "power couple" and godfather any attention. If they're going to give fake awards to each other, they will do so without an audience because literally nobody else cares. To be so publicly snubbed by both the public and your peers is the greatest possible insult I can think of.

Karan and You-Know-Aloo were able to get away with this behavior in recent years because Bollywood was in a rut. Films were not working and audiences were rejecting BW for South films and Hollywood. 2023 changed everything because it was the big return of BW especially for the big stars that fans have loved and been invested in for decades like SRK and Sunny. These people are not just actors for fans but basically gods or idols. Even Kjo has admitted that this new generation has no stars and that era is over. 2023 gave us a return of the real stars that the public genuinely accepted and has followed, not PR manufactured "stars," so to ask this public to watch Aloo be crowned yet again was unacceptable this year. It was barely tolerated in the past because there was no competition but this year was very different and audiences do not want to return to the limbo BW was in for the last years.

99.9 % comments on her insta post were bashing her. Don’t know which 99.9% ‘voted’ for her. But you are cute to believe that she got this through voting.

The way they have bracketed Vicky’s special appearance as supporting role by cleverly giving him an award for it, I would be surprised if Vicky wasn’t pissed. May be that’s why he didn’t bother to neither show up nor acknowledge it.

I think that was genuine. Audiences were very impressed by his role in Dunki but they were equally as impressed by his leading role in Sam Bahadur. Many were speculating (myself included) that he would win both awards. If not Best Actor, then at least Best Actor Critics, alongside Best Supporting Actor. So I don't think there was foul play in nominating him for BSA (especially because there has been outrage that Deepika was not nominated for BSA or even BA for Jawan) but I can see FF deciding that if they give him this "lesser" award, they don't need to bother with one of the lead ones. If that's the case, then I do think that's an insult because he was a favorite to win BA.

It’s not supporting actor though. It’s called ‘special appearance’. Like Salman’s in KKHH but even he got supporting actor award for it which he wasn’t too happy about. There were several other instances where the actors preferred to call their role special appearance. For ex SRK in Dear Zindagi. Is he credited as supporting character?

I just checked his insta. He didn’t even acknowledge it while making a whole post congratulating Sam Bahadur.

I say he should drop this love and war or whatever because he ain’t getting anything out of it with two vultures trying to hog everything for themselves.
