Akshay Kumar, Arbaaz Khan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor had been approached and declined because of having to play an anti-hero...

The director Duo had wanted SRK from the beginning, but SRK first had to convince the producers to cast him...

His casting was criticized by trade pundits who incorrectly predicted that "a boy with cute dimples" would never be accepted as an anti-hero.

If Ranbir was really as good in his role as many state here, he can - of course - get an award for his performance.

I think, it would be only problematic to give an award to Animal as 'best film' or as 'best original script'. I suppose that the soundtrack may get an award...

I agree that Tarantino movies are at a different level. I didn't say they are at the same level. I said it 'reminded me of' those movies because you don't see such dark content in mainstream cinema in India and it will be foolish to expect it to be at the Tarantino level with the initial attempt itself.

totally agree. No chance Animal deserves Best Film. 12th Fail, Mrs Chatterjee.., even RARKPK are far ahead as movies.

I liked the movie because of Ranbir's performance, the dark cinematography, music and kickass BGM. Finally some brilliant music with local Punjabi flavor and BGM to escape from the usual Pritam and Vishal Shekhar monotony

It would be quite fascinating if the supporting categories are all wins from SRK movies. Vicky for Dunki and either Deepika from Jawan or Dimple from Pathaan.

Yeah quite possible actually. Vicky for Dunki is what I voted for in the Filmfare vote but went for Dimple for her punjabi mom act in Tu Jhooti but could very well be Pathaan. The awards are in Gujarat this time and not at YRF in Mumbai and end of this month on the 28th already. I always thought they gave YRF movie a couple of undeserved awards when it was hosted there. I always thought Screen and Zee Cine happened before Filmfare happened but could be wrong.

BTW for Filmfare voting - I was trying to vote Arijit Singh as Best Singer for Main Parwaana from Pippa and Best Music AR Rahman for Pippa but couldn't find the movie in the list. Is it again because it was an OTT release?

ended up voting Bhupinder Babbal for Arjan Vailly from Animal instead.

Read an excerpt today from KJo interview where he said Animal was the best movie of the year. I will be very disappointed if any film other than 12th Fail wins

Anyone seen Manoj Bajpaye movie Joram . I have seen some reels saying it’s one of the best movies of yr; another powerful performance by Manoj . This guy on roll👏

Joram released just one week after Animal in theatres...but it had been awarded many times before at filmfestivals.
