Well, audience didn't thrash her enough along with makers, makers sold this show with two people's mein but audience is getting everything except them. Still she has gut to bring religion here when she gets more screen space than male lead?

I would say actress tried best to get sympathy with her onscreen bad acting.

Exactly. I wouldn't say second lead as well because she was supposed to be another character. Atleast these people called her second lead. She was nowhere in promotion. Ost and the show was marketed using two people implying that they would have a romantic angle.

Still she is getting lot of screenspace, more than Wahaj despite being a poor performer. Her character had scope of good performance but she has just monotonous dialogue delivery and cold & bland expressions. Thanks to her connection or whatever tie up she has with that director/production.

Also bringing in religious angle was low

When Zaid made that phone call to Mubashira to threaten her with an impending divorce, he gave it a lot of thought and used it as his last resort – he was drowned with guilt, wanted to make everything right for Ayra and her sister-in-law and he knew there is no way his father would agree to Ayra’s demand of acceptance. So, he used the only weapon he had in his arsenal – if anyone, it must be Mubashira Jaffer who could convince his father. But he was not sure that it’d work, Mubashira was not known to bend to someone’s demands that easily. So, he was clearly surprised when Asif declared that they were at Ayra’s doorstep to get them married. His look conveyed all – he was shocked, he was shooting an arrow in the dark (not in complete darkness, maybe…as he knew what she had gone through) and couldn’t really believe that she agreed with his demand. Throughout that wedding day, his looks for her were of bewilderment – she was going extra miles for him, even if it was her scheming, that was not how the Mubashira Jaffer he knew functioned. It continued till their reception night – he was partly puzzled, partly guilt conscious, partly contemplating – trying to understand, partly grateful and with time, started to appreciate her efforts. The night of their reception was the second time he willingly approached her without a request of his own, to thank her – and when Aira dragged him with her he gave in without any protest.

He was definitely softening towards Mubashira – he callously dismissed her being his wife when his father mentioned it and later, during his conversation with Ayra, accepted it – whatever it is, she is married to him. Then after their car conversation, we saw him ponder on Mubashira’s words – that she’ll be there with him, no matter what. Initially, he was reluctant to share his problems with her, but it seems that their conversation did soothe him. Amid the chaos of his life, he valued the companionable vibe she provided – still, while thinking about it, he didn’t seem happy. Whatever he had with Mubashira, he was planning to keep it compartmentalized, away from the life he thought he wanted – the life he wanted to create with the women whom he had convinced himself that he is in love with (which is debatable!). Mubashira is slowly drifting into his heart, acquiring a soft spot – I am not sure whether he is really happy with that understanding.

With that harangue done, we come to that ‘coffee request’. One thing is clear about that scene, there was no pretense from both sides – their interaction was genuine. His eyes softened and demeanor changed, almost guarded, when he saw her. Her question was softly uttered as was his answer (the softness of the tone he used while saying ‘Ayra ko lene’ was not something he used for her earlier, there was something else in there that I could not quite pinpoint, so, moving on..!). When she asked the next question, his mind had gone to somewhere else while looking at her – I wonder what he was thinking – he had to shake himself to answer her. When he dismissed her offer for coffee (which managed to dim her eyes with hurt) – it could be because he was already upset with Ayra, or it also could be because he was reluctant to accept the companionship she was willingly extending - going against which probably he knew he needed at that point. It’d have been great if they showed at least a glimpse of what went through his head, before he ended up at her doorstep. My guess is that he tried saying no to himself, but the pull of needing whatever her presence provided was stronger, so he ended up knocking her door. Agreed - there was shyness and awkwardness in his demeanor unlike previous many times they were together in a room alone, because he understood that their relationship has moved from the uncomplicated ‘contractual marriage only’ zone to somewhere else. There was definitely attraction, an unresolved intimacy that he was trying to comprehend. I am glad that Mubashira opened the door and even let Ayra barge into the room (although Ayra’s act was totally uncalled for and might I add, wrong in many ways!). Unlike the previous time when Ayra dragged him out of Mubashira’s company, he didn’t comply with her demand – that was a first, no?

But what I liked the most was Mubashira’s eyes when he declared that this room also belonged to him – it was the guest room, which is now occupied by her, by saying it is his room too, Zaid actually credited their relationship – that was a first too, right? Her eyes said it all – she didn’t really notice what Ayra said afterward, happy with the realization that Zaid refused Ayra and willingly chose to be with her. As Mubashira once said, Zaid is 'no nonsense' - he was unapologetic about waking up on her bed. They have a long way to go, but they are definitely seeking each other.

Completely agree.

@bold yes yes yes. I liked it too. When Ayra asks him to come to his room, MJ's has this very vulnerable expression. It was so nice. She waits for his response with expectation, vulnerability & when he does, she is so happy

People are mostly irritated because she has more scenes than Ayeza with Wahaj, otherwise she's perfect for any Ice queen role or some other reserved characters.

I'm surprised anyone in entertainment industry would play the minority card- very childish of her. Good to know that she has the freedom to express these kind of comments in her country so openly.

@bold Did I not tell you in the previous thread? That it's no nuanced acting from her in Mein. That's how she generally acts. Cold & bland.

Idk what GL said but the criticism towards Azekah has nothing to do with discrimination. She is just underwhelming on screen, bas.

For me, every character in Mein is grey that you bash and root for them at the same. Zaid was also bland in the beginning given he had barely anything to do but while I felt (albeit very less) for him, I still critiqued his actions.

Ayra on the other hand has given me no reason to support. Its the way the character is and how bland the actress is. Sorry but thats the truth.

I haven't watched Tere Bin but based on whatever I have heard Sabeena was so good that it made sense if people starting feeling strongly towards her. That being said, I am against any sort of death threats towards any actor. They are doing their job. But stans forget to separate the character from the actor unfortunately.

Rahi baat religion ki...I am a Hindu. Does that mean I am allowed to critique her performance? smiley36

Yes. I feel being critical of the character & acting is really fine. But personal hate is not. But in Azekah Daniel's case, it is clearly her acting and screenspace. Itna kya offend hona. Aur isme kya religion aagaya? Agar critics religious based hote, bhai kaun kahan hota aj. Stupidity. Kaam toh milta rehta hai inko despite being an okayish actor.

The only reason zaid refused her offer for a coffee initially was his obvious attraction towards her. He if she really was just a ‘friend’ to him, there was no reason for him to be so guarded around her.

I was actually surprised that she’s still around after Zaid & mubashra’s wedding. I never thought she would end up as the second wife after so much mess.

Wow, this is so perfectly analyzed. I love it! Agree on everything. I’ve been observing Zaid’s expressions because it’s all we have to go with give. He doesn’t have many lines expressing what’s going on in his mind. I noticed a couple of times he smiles at MJ but it fades away with a look of worry and stress, and you can tell his mind has wandered off thinking about his situation with Ayra. It feels like MJ is giving him peace and Ayra is giving him stress.

Agreed - that is exactly why he refused her offer. I think that is why the scene where he was thinking over what she said during their car conversation was important. He was not quite happy with the realisation, but he was realising that it actually made him happy when she said that she'll be there for him. And also he realised that his feelings for Mubashira was trespassing the 'just a contract wife' zone to 'friend' zone to somewhere else altogether. It was clear from the start that Zaid is craving for a true companionship - someone who stand by him for what he is, value him and choose him. When Mubashira is giving him exactly that, he is happy to accept it, but for a long time he had convinced himself that 'he loves Ayra' and that makes him wary about his growing attraction towards Mubashira. That is exactly why when he saw her (while walking inside), even though his eyes softened for mere seconds, his whole demeanour became guarded. He was restraining - trying to shake off the attraction, refused her offer and walk away from her quickly only to comeback to her doorstep and knock rather impatiently!

And it might be little too early to say this, but even on the next day in the office him walking away quickly from the meeting and zoning out while discussing business with his employee - could be because of this mental conflict he was going through. If it was just because of Ayra, he should have been happy with her offer of the lunch date, but it didn't really seem like that right? smiley2 Have to wait and see.

Yes he didn’t seem happy with the lunch date! Again though, Ayra is following her pattern of pushing him away and then demanding attention whenever it’s convenient for her.

I just realised that your summing up of Ayra's behaviour ^^ is what narcissism usually is. Selfishness, only caring about yourself, being manipulative & then love bombing/ suddenly being nice. This behaviour can be very confusing for the partner. smiley3
