Chalti hun Mai Taron Par .

what better way to describe you are in love.

and Sadhana, that must have been the peak of her beauty and acting career.

Posting for Rajesh Khanna Birth Anniversary: Dec 29

Rajesh Khanna + R.D. Burman + Kishoreda was an unbeatable combination. Add Anand Bakshi to the mix and the beauty called Amar Prem & you have a masterpiece. I love all the songs in this movie but this one stands out for me simply because of the way Kishoreda sings it. His voice flexes with every emotion - the pain can be felt through the apparent levity of Anand Babu (Rajesh Khanna's character) in the acting and the singing and the words.. oh the words!

Sheeshe ka khilona tha.. kuch na kuch toh hona tha, hua...

Oh that last hua! smiley38smiley38smiley19smiley19. Sublime.

I also loved this movie - one of Rajesh Khanna's finest performances imo and he's had many.

Another Rajesh Khanna movie that captured hearts was Anand. I don't think you can think of him and not bring up this movie. It's kind of synonymous with him. For a long time, I would refer to him as Anand, when I was little and didn't know all the actors' names.

Anand mara nahi... Anand marte nahi smiley38

The music by Salil Chowdhary is impeccable as always. And Mukesh does his best with the compositions, However, my favorite is this one by Mannada..

I love Gulzar's poetry in the other songs, but this one is written by Yogesh and he knocks it out of the park.

Rafi was not the voice of choice for Kaka. But in his early days, Rafi has sung some songs for him... one I absolutely love is this duet with him and Lata from Mehboob ki Mehndi, music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, lyrics are by Anand Bakshi again. There's something joyous in the tune reflecting the flush of first love and Rafi's & Lata's voices do absolute justice and Kaka and Leena Chandavarkar look stunning! smiley42

Agreed. Rajesh Khanna's list of great songs could fill pages.

PS: Just a suggestion - when you quote a post, please edit out the song links. It unnecessarily reposts those songs and makes the page heavy. I have edited the previous post you quoted of mine.

30th Dec is the death anniversary of a forgotten music director, Datta Naik also known as N. Dutta. He began his career as assistant to S.D. Burman, and went on to compose music for films such as Chandrakanta, Dhool ka phool, Dharmaputra, Naya Rasta, Sadhna etc.

Dhool ka phool was possibly his most famous soundtrack.

Posting some of my favorite N. Dutta tracks.

Maine chand aur sitaron ki tamanna ki thi (in raag Bhimpalas)

Film: Chandrakanta (1956)

Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi

Singer: Mohammed Rafi

Aurat ne janam diya mardon ko

Film: Sadhana (1958)

Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

Laal laal gaal

Singer: Mohammed Rafi
