Admit it!! RG is a great example of real life empowerment. She made a grand comeback at an age when most actresses plan to retire, didn't conform to any typical norms of beauty when compared to leads of other successful TV shows and yet is going strong and successful.
Too bad her reel character didn't do any such thing.
But whom can we blame here because the "market" she caters to is of viewers who still believe that for a woman the only way to be complete is be a mother.
A show about so called empowerment and yet the only achievement the protagonist has had is to be the "victim" with a big bandwagon of fans who are super quick to find faults with ANYONE but Anupamaa. Everyone says Anupamaa has been wronged and her kids, her husband, her exhusband etc are bad but nobody comments on why she is not distancing herself from them.
Viewers with a mentality that I am hungry right now, not because I didn't lift a bite of food to my mouth but because the food didn't walk up to me and place itself in my mouth. Which is the majority of the world's human population!
And RG is keeping them happy and hence is successful. Why bother empowering women who don't actually wanna take charge of their own lives, but would rather watch this show and crib that they are unlucky to have husbands like Vanraj and MILs like Leela else they would have been rocket scientist?
Just keep them happy and mint money! One's own success should be top priority and RG is doing the absolute right thing.
Note that my answer is not to blame the actor. She doesn't owe me anything. And, frankly speaking if the makers would have shown Anupamaa make a successful dance career, not wait for a man, refuse to help Toshu or Pakhi for once, not go back to the house that keeps insulting her, improve her accent, go to therapy for her panic attacks, learn and talk about actual business terms, etc.
she would not have been relatable to the majority women of India who still think taking bold decisions only looks good in TV shows. She is currently appealing to them and looks absolutely fine.
This is very privileged way to look at things. But alright. For some these things are just a topic of debate or essay! So they can write anything.
That's why I also respect professional thugs. They are also working really hard to run their life. All political parties are doing good for themselves. All media channels are doing good so what they show fake news and mint money. Police does good so what they involve in corruption.
I also agree with you. (Not in sarcastic way) but there has to be some line that shouldn't be crossed. But if there is no line and all we need to live for oneself by doing anything then everyone should be allowed to do so! Keval ek do log ye fun Masti kyon kare?
Naa law/morality/samaj ka judgement sabke liye ek hai, aur na sabko aisa krne par puraskar milna hai!
And no.. RG is no example of women empowerment! She is doing good for herself and that's good enough. No need to lie/brag about things that is simply not true. There so many actors/directors/writers/cameraperson/makeup artists etc... So many people are working really hard to make ends meet without harming anyone. They're are the shiny example of women empowerment!
I'm not expecting RG or RS to do anything good for anyone. God bless them. They should live the way the want. But ye to wahi hua ki ham dono haath me laddu rakhenge! Double standards follow karenge!
Aap agar jaisa man chahe waisa kaam bina judgement ke karana chahte ho to wahi attitude dusro ke liye bhi rakho! Preach na karo! Lekin agar kuch Preach karna hai to kuch criteria apne par bhi laagu karo!
Ye Babas/Sadhvi logo wala bullshit hi hai. Mujhe aise Actors/business-person thik lagte hain jo kisi ko kuch Preach nahi karte, unapololigetically apni life/work enjoy karte hain! Aur reel aur Real ko mix nahi karte. Karna bhi nahi chahiye.
Agar ye actors entertainers hain to keval wahi rahe.. why are they pretending to be anyone else when they are not!
Matlab bina kuch kiye medal lena hai!!!
And also... I don't get ki log yaha par ek dusre ke view points/emotional reactions ko adjust karne.. tone policing karne me kitna effort karte hain!! Jitna Individual rights wo actors ko dete hain, jitna unke rights ko defend karte hain, uska 1% bhi wo apne jaise regular logo ko nahi dete.
I mean... It was obviously too much! A line was clearly crossed here. I wanted to make some points which I did. One can agree/disagree. But it shouldn't be twisted to become a testimonial!
Aise to har cheez ka tone yahi same ho jata hai ki if you have money then there is no rule applies to you. Anything you do become an example of something so great. It seems they are Sachmuch ki Devis! I wonder ki ham aise regular working women ke hard work ki kabhi tareef karte hain! Jo professions hi aise hain, jitna man chaahe hard work karo, you can never be rich!
I for one like to respect every profession with the same lens giving same importance to everyone.
