America voted in trump and then voted out trump. So the logical fallacy that everyone in the west wants right-wing governments is factually false. France voted in a liberal government. Brexit wrecked UK and as of yet they haven't had an election yet
First world countries built their wealth on the back of colonisation and bankrupting former colonies, so they have no moral high-ground to be anti-immigrant. Haiti was forced to pay indemnities to France for getting independent. Furthermore settler colonies like US, Canada, Australia, New Zealnd are sites of aboriginal massacres. Jab dusro ka culture destroy kiya ho aur genocides kiye hon toh sanctimony about cultural preservation is baklol.
Most American and British MNCs outsource their work to Asia because of cheap labour. They have to pay more to employees in America than in Asia. Many of friends have worked on big Hollywood movies from Mumbai, Bangalore etc and gotten paid in peanuts.Their jobs are lost because of MNC greed and recently automation. That why Hollywood was striking since May.
If you think every one in country x is criminal/terrorist because few people are, that is your hill to die on. Even if we agreed to that dictat, then those few "innocent, poor souls" who live there are in a humanitarian crisis, they might be in a life-death situation where asylum might be their only shot at survival. Should those people apply for 15 different visas before getting out of a shitty place where their kids might be dead before morning comes?
That is a large facet of why illegal immigration exists. That's why it requires dialogue, reform, and most importantly decency.
I don't have internalised hatred about being an Indian, so I won't even go into how morally disingenuous it is to say that some "backward areas' in India are more patriarchal or whatnot.
But I do not want to derail the thread anymore. It's Christmas.

Beautiful post! So Glad people like you exist. 🙏
Hey thanks. I did not go with lot of expectations, but with whatever I went with, the movie did not live up to that.
My theater was jampacked with families and I am not kidding when I say this that not more than 5-6 people chuckled during the lame classroom scenes in first half. I don't know if I went to a different theater than everyone else, but no one seemed to find the movie remotely funny up until the interview scene. That was good comedy. Everyone laughed there.
Also, what was Hirani trying to propagate through the film? That illegal immigration is not bad, or that couñtries should open their borders for everyone? 🤦♀️😂😂😂 That's the dumbest shit ever. Like why should countries open their borders for everyone? Imagine all the religious, cultural and economic Terrorism that would cause.
All the problem India has because of backwardness, population and mentality of people, other countries will start having those. What's the point of preaching this same thing again and again. So cringe.
I haven't watched the movie, but maybe he was trying to show that when people are in a desperate situation (lack of economic opportunities/ unemployment) they can fall for Dunki schemes and some people even lose their life over it. I don't bother about most movies, but if this movie stops people from falling for Dunki schemes, then I am for it
THIS IS THE SCENE! *Foams* 🤤

It actually started a dialogue on how Dunki schemes are too dangerous.....I am glad that someone made a movie on this and now people are bringing out the real incidents ....
