Whatever it is but Alia is using all her contacts and getting the best roles. Deepika has been in the Industry for long time and she also has good connections, she should be using that and lobbying for some strong female centric roles. Plus Alia has a bettter PR infact she has the best PR in Bollywood. Deepika has been lazy in selecting scripts. This laid back attitude won't help.

It's about the dread of falling into the married actress category. There's this fear that everyone will start picturing her as old and a housewife. Deepika's PR was throwing article after article post 2013, calling Kareena old and she should retire. All her movies after getting hitched have been super glamorous and sexy. It's a game you can't win, and the sooner she figures that out, the better for her.

She is probably planning motherhood, given her age and that their dream home is almost ready. She is focusing on making money and glam roles which wont come to her post baby given patriarchal views of society.

She needs to balance it with one good role every couple of years otherwise people will start forgetting her earlier good movies.

DP can act if she puts in the efforts. Her performance in Jawan is a testament to that. But for some reason, she seems to be more interested in these Action flicks and less effort roles. Maybe because they are easy to do? Or maybe those are the type of roles she is being offered? Also she is doing very well endorsement wise, so may be she doesn't care much either!

Let's see how does she do in Project K & Cop Universe. Those would be different roles probably.

I mean other than Alia powered by Papa Jo's production house not too many fleshed out roles are being written for female leads. Hence many are preferring OTT like Kareena is atm. The action genre is back in Bollywood with a bang and love stories are hardly made . The importance of female leads are reducing.

The problem is that action films for women are not being made unless they have secondary or diminishing roles. Rani alone has carried a franchise with Mardaani and action is not the focus but the social awareness being spread.

80s films were considered the worst era for BW because of the focus on rape, violence, misogyny, and only action. Women's roles during this era were horrifically abysmal. We have re-entered that phase especially with films like Animal which has regressed Hindi cinema back decades to the 80s. Chandni was a groundbreaking film that featured no action and restored romance and musical cinema to the screen. We need a new Chandni for this generation to break this rut.

I do not know about Chandni but I remember reading old articles that said Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Maine Pyaar kiya played a huge role in bringing the romantic genre back. We need romantic movies to work now. I hope Dunki works too , so that big stars still star in social dramas.

QSQT was the start and that really ushered in the era of making romance integral to Hindi cinema again. But even that film involved some violence, particularly the ending. Chandni, one year later, was even more instrumental because it had no action or violence at all. Very atypical for its time.

That's why it won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment

Chandni received widespread critical acclaim upon its release, with many critics highlighting the film's impact in being instrumental in bringing an end to an era of violent action movies in Indian cinema and rejuvenating the romantic musical genre.

Hindustan Times featured the movie in its list of 'Yash Chopra's Greatest Hits' saying "it was instrumental in ending the era of violence in Bollywood and bringing back the romance into Hindi films."

Word of mouth is already achieving its success. Don't count it out yet.

She is basically reaping the benefits while the sun shines on her career ..

Character roles toh kabhi bhi kar legi

Also, as long as audience like you keeps harping about hits and flops, this is how big stars will think and base their decisions on box office
