Deepika’s choice of films as of now…

Deepika Padukone did such great work in Piku, Cocktail, YJHD, Bajirao etc but now she is nothing but a glorified glam doll in films.

She is doing stuff that Katrina is famous for. Katrina I understand coz she doesn’t have much acting skills to speak of but is stunning and is an amazing dancer so she is a perfect fit for such songs n films.

Honestly, DP was great in Gehraiyaan. I really hope she gets back to roles thag has meat in it.
Alia is doing some good projects which showcase her talent. DP is self admittedly the number 1 actress now, so shouldn’t she be doing work suiting that.

Well Deepika is now mainly going for Financial success now

I don't think Dp will return to that Cocktail,Piku, Tamasha, Chennai express era .

She will now do as much as big budget multi starrer movies as long as she can rather than caring about Creative aspects.(Though She got appreciated for Jawan but still that was just a cameo appearance)

So i guess she will be playing it safe now instead of taking risks like she used to do in her 20s

Well alia’s mentor is lobbying for her and making sure she will get the best roles and continue to get best rules. Deepika was ruling during her piku days and she always believed in good cinema but now she is getting any role because if she refuse this too, she will not be getting anything.

does anyone remember priyanka mentioned in kwk that she is in talks with Sanjay leela and another director? And the host was a lot surprised. Well she didn’t got any projects. And then she did an interview about bolllywood. I just pray deepika will get good roles, she is a very good actress and I hope her work will shine.

Ya agree, not everyone has a Kjo.

But DP has made a place for herself in the industry so I think she can get good offers or even if she doesn’t get those meaty films she can easily take a break coz she has nothing to prove anyone.

I remember reading as well that Bhansali had promised Priyanka a solo film of her own if she agreed to do Bajiro since she didn't want to do a supporting role. There were rumors that this was what became Gangubai. But a lot of reasons for the cancellation of these projects was also likely because Priyanka put BW on the backburner for Hollywood. She already had antagonized Akshay, KJo, and Gauri and then she quit Bharat and started a second feud with Salman so there are not many in the industry who would support her. Quitting Bharat probably also made many realize that she will choose Hollywood over Bollywood anyday so she is not a reliable person to employ.

If you look at Deepika's longevity, she's done quite well for herself. I don't think she's going away and while people on this forum may claim she is disliked, the truth of the matter is that she's currently Bollywood's biggest heroine and has had this role for a full decade now. Her only remote competition is Alia and that's only because of KJo. I don't think audiences have nearly the amount of goodwill for Alia compared to Deepika (remember when it was recorded that Deepika got the most claps from the celeb cameos in Zero).

Deepika is not that great an actress to run a movie on her shoulder. Her whole forte has been looking pretty and acting action-y that made her number 1 currently. Why should she reject sure shot blockbusters like Pathan, Jawan , Fighter and do risky projects? Which mid budget woman centric film did really well post covid, except Gangu? And lets be honest Gehraiya was forgettable.

Deepika is in fact choosing really good projects that would keep her number 1 unless something drastically changes.
