Incase u r not aware there are many Indian Hindu families who aren't Bhakts in the sense u mean..and they follow all the family traditions

By bhakts I meant andh bhakts.

Sonam is definitely not a bhakt by any means, don't know about the rest of her family.

I dont know what Sonam says, but honey is not to be given to kids under 1. And i also had a hard time explaining that to elders in family

Sonam ki koi video aayi hai wherein she said she fought with the panditji for following this rasam and instead was comfortable with Apple puree smiley36

Docs on Twitter are saying both are not needed na honey na apple puree..

Traditionalists are saying a drop honey will not harm the baby as it's been going for generations.

Some our calling out Sonam for trying to be woke and unnecessary involving panditji in story when it's likely a tradition in his husband family and not any rasam some "pandit" is imposing.

yes this tradition exists in many cultures

I don’t think it’s part of a religion

Wow. Why would you say that to the babies though? You must think before uttering such gibberish. How are you any different from those who you disagree with? If they are one extreme, you are another extreme.

Sonam says a lot of wtf things, but she was right here.

Honey tends to have bacteria that can cause botulism. An infant's immune system is weak, so it is not recommended. Honey is okay after they are older than one.

There are many unsafe things done for generations and we survived. But that does not mean we continue to do them once we know better. Parents use car seats for kids, put child safety locks on things, and baby-proof their homes. It's a miracle I am alive because putting pencils in electric sockets was like a hobby for me and not one person thought to cover the sockets. smiley36

And it depends on the risk tolerance of parents. Some parents may be ok with a drop of honey for ritual, other parents will not even take the slightest risk.

With many religious observations, it's a matter of faith and intent rather than accuracy. I've seen pujas done in the West with fake electric fires because they couldn't get the venue to approve the real one.

While I understand consciously not letting the baby have anything that is potentially harmful, babies put a lot of things in their mouths which may be worse than a drop of honey.

I would not probably create a drama out of it if it was a drop or just touching the babies mouth with honey. If it was a spoonful, Sonam has an argument there
