I grew up with Mysore Concerns. Their coffee will always be my go-to coffee. It evokes the nostalgia of my grandmother making filter coffee in the mornings.
In the US brands, I actually like the Starbucks Veranda blend. Pike Place is a close second. I have tried many niche independent and ethical roasters, but there seems to be a frustrating obsession with dark roasts to the point of acrid bitterness. Even blond roasts are overdone.
Berres Brothers is the bomb for flavored coffees. Their Highlander Grogg is one of the best. But whenever I want seasonals like peppermint or pumpkin spice - I pick Berres Brothers.
Walmart's Great Value brand has surprisingly fantastic cold brew bags. The other good cold brew bag is Dunkin Donuts. For ready-to-drink cold brew, it is Starbucks again for me.
I typically go to coffee shops only when I need a quick break during travels, or someone wants to meet there. During travel breaks, I often find a Starbucks - they are everywhere, I know what to expect, and as a rewards member, I do not feel guilty about stopping in just to use the restroom.
