Bulbul is Māmī's daughter. The character who is arriving - not leaving - when she sees Imlie^3 leaving Chaudhary Sweets is Sonali Dīdī - Sonali Singh Chaudhary.

I guess Singh is their father's personal name, not a masculine suffix!

Alaka is a rather boring character: no sign of capability to harm Gattu like a good villain, just complaining that he's taking over the business and his Ammā took over Alaka's husband. I can sympathize with Alaka in a generic way because Gattu is her living humiliation, forever intruding into her family and home. On the other hand, blaming a motherless child for his mother's offense, when the man who is most responsible is dead, seems like a waste of enmity. It would make more sense for Alaka to blame Annapurna for raising a homewrecking son!

Gattu shrugged off the "illegitimate" taunt from Sonali because he could go to court and get equal inheritance. Gattu's willingness to bow at Alaka's feet vanished when Annapurna wasn't around. He was slinging mud right back at Alaka, taunting her that his Bābā left her because he didn't get love and respect.

When will Hindi TV outgrow this chauvinistic attitude that a husband's infidelity is a natural reaction to his wife's inadequacy? Is a wife allowed the same freedom when her husband is inadequate? Can't Gattu just say that his Bābā wasn't stolen; he went looking by his own choice?

There are all kinds of blended families in the real world, but Hindi TV shows only the learn-to-share-your-husband model.

Also, when will Hindi TV stop telling us that "the other woman" is good if the husband seeks her out himself and bad if she makes the first move? Gattu seems to base his self-esteem on his Ammā, whom he never met, being purer than the seductive bar dancers that he despises.

Gattu was cordial with his Jījā jī in the homecoming scene, but when Jījā said that he talks the same way to Sonali and Alaka in his mind, and he's on Gattu's side, Gattu didn't smile. Could he feel sorry that he's a wedge in his sister's marriage?
