Savitri as others have said is Rekha's step mother. At her prime, she was the biggest female star of the south Indian film industry. Her best film is considered Mayabazar (1957). Also recently she had a biopic Mahanati (2018), which is also good. I suggest you check them both out!

Again to the people saying Aish, she is fabs but she was just a really popular female star. I don't think she reached superstar status. Plus these polls are not very accurate, for example where is Sridevi? Nargis? Vyjayathimala? Even Madhubala only had a brief time at the top but obviously her illness cut it short

Divya was popular but unfortunately her death cut her career short. So her brief career and well she isn't considered a superstar, is why she and others are not added to this list

Okay to the people saying "where's (female star)?", i think in Indian cinema, it is definitely patriarchal, and really only the three actresses on this list are names that i can firmly say outranked their male peers in their prime, i mean sure Hema Malini was massive or even Madhubala, but I don't think a lot of people consider them female superstars, which is annoying, even i wish women stars could be equally popular. But they aren't unfortunately
