High expectations were obvious with this third collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and director Vishal Bhardwaj. But it didn't match the critical acclaim of Kaminey and Haider. Interestingly, it is Bhardwaj's highest-grossing fil, crossing close to the Rs 100 crore mark would usually be considered respectable, but context matters. With a reported budget of around Rs 125 crore, O' Romeo simply needed far more to justify its scale, leaving it with a sizeable shortfall.

The Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur led romantic drama could never find its audience. Poor theatrical occupancy and limited word of mouth ensured that its lifetime collections remained far below what was needed to recover its investment.
