Like fighting such a huge level war doesn’t make sense if you are doing it for property, you could have simply killed the person, but no they ended up fighting a huge war which killed thousands of people so they needed a safeguard from the accusations which were about to come and for that they waited for 14 years to show how much of an injustice it was, they used VH and this agyat Vyas to justify their need of throne

@bold no that's not the case, they did want to negotiate, at least Yudhisthir did. Maybe not Bheem but others for sure, in fact Krishna wanted the war...

They never even used VH as an excuse. The episode of VH was rarely brought out (if ever). The discussion was on how they were cheated and now being denying their rights and kingdom.

It's not a small thing. Wars always happened for land, that has been throughout the history and even now.

They completed the Agyatwas as per the rules of the game, but Duryodhan still denied (his say was that he recognized Arjun on the last of Agyatwas) to return their kingdom. So they should fight and get it back...

And no killing a person (king) was neither easy nor sufficient because even after killing the land wouldn't have been returned.

It was always fought as a battle of rights on kingdom (and rightly so) Draupadi's VH is given prominence now not in those texts. That's such a forgotten episode in Mahabharata post the happening that many Karna fans claim that it would have been an interpolation else it should have been repeatedly mentioned.
