I always binge watch korean dramas, movies. Even trying my hands on korean dishes. Korean men are just so so goodlooking. Of course, so are Chinese men. ☺️

My mom and aunt are always listening to BTS, blackpink, Mamamoo and Exo's songs. Even I don't get it . I mean, they don't even understand a word of korean . 😆

Exactly this! This is the kind of craze I was referring to.

Craze for Korean books, literature, home remedies, cosmetics, stories and books set in Korea, their web series, food, decor, their men and women, so much so that people are travelling to Korea to find a life partner or dream of Korean men or women as a future GF/BF.

That level has not been achieved by South Asian one at any point of time in recent history.

I am glad you admitted your fandom and did not deny it out of pseudo nationalism.

Im more inquisitive about it. Apart from me finding some songs like Love shot that I enjoyed. I just dont see Korean stuff taking over everything. I dont really hear Korean music on my radio. But I mainly listen to ESPN radio 😆

Actually that is not true. Turkish dramas are very famous in Eastern Europe and South America

And North Africa also apparently.

The reason Indian shows are not popular globally is because the soap operas are all trash and have been for decades. The digital content is hard to tell apart. But Indian digital content still has a shot at making it globally if they stick to Indian sensibilities and stop trying so hard to ape the West. Indian writing needs an overhaul big time. They need to start valuing and paying their writers more like other industries do.

Do unions as a concept even work in India though? Serious question

My post was about accent of Punjabi actors in Bollywood when they speak terrible Hindi and Urdu and hardly get rid of their Punjabi accent.

Not about English.

Lulz about Jatts having sharp or delicate features.

Mostly bulky. Look at Kirron Kher for eg. Was always a bulky woman with big face, big teeth and bulging butt, belly and oversized breasts. No wonder she got mom roles even at younger age.

Or Taapsee Pannu who had to get surgery done to fix her pakoda nose and chubby cheeks.

Jatt women look most bulky and hardly feminine with that broad shoulders, muscular frame, big noses and tall height and heavy, deep voices.

Feminity or delicate grace is far from Jatt women.

I mean one look at likes of Sonam Bajwa or Neeru Bajwa and one can get the point.

There is not a single Punjabi woman who has grace and delicate, sharp, feminine features like Ash, Waheeda Rehman, Rekha, Sadhana, Deepika etc.

English of newer Punjabi stars is good only if they go abroad. Otherwise one can see English of Akshay Kumar, Dharmendra, Sunny, Bobby, Ayushman, Kapil Sharma, Sonu Sood, Jeetendra and contrast it to Amitabh Bachchan, SRK. No comparison in vocabulary, pronunciation or accent or choice of right words or eloquence.

Only in past we had Punjabi stars like Balraj Sahni, Sunil Dutt, Pran, Kapoor khandaan and to some extent Rajesh Khanna who spoke Hindi, Urdu and English very well.

The hype for Punjabi looks or language skills is laughable.

Yes they should. It is shocking we have no groups for writers, artistes, men, women, technicians etc in India.

CINTAA is also a toothless body.

Thanks for informing me.

Good for them.

Their actors look good.

But still it is not same level craze as Koreans who have been topping polls for BBC, TIME, and British and American magazines too almost forcing West to take notice of Korean culture.

K-pop is very very popular but it's not just because they are good. Its because of their marketing agencies. All that shines isn't gold or diamond btw. K-pop idols have very tough life as a trainee and to look perfect they often have to go through plastic surgeries which is very common and diets that would hardly fill the tummy.

The idols are paid salary by the company.

What stops Indians from marketing and hyping our stuff?

Desi or Brown terms are used for all South Asians on social media and among diaspora in the West.

Feel free to take offense.

And stop making it about India or your own regions or states.
