The only Korean culture I care for is kimchi*.
Personally, I never got into K-pop or K-dramas or K-movies. It is just a matter of preference. So I don't understand what the big deal is. But if people enjoy it, great. And I do enjoy K-pop fans online - they can be hilarious, and their mass attacks on crazy conservatives are entertaining.
I don't see the need to compare, though. I think Indian movies do have an iconic cultural following across the globe. It is just not that visible. I'd actually say that Indian pop culture has a much bigger following that Korean pop culture. It is just that the nations where Indian pop culture is huge - are not fully digitally connected or are not dominant groups online.
In most of Africa and the Middle East, Bollywood movies are followed more than K-pop or K-dramas, and every rando on the streets knows Shahrukh Khan. There still is a big love for Indian movies and music in Russia and Central Asia. And in many Asian countries in Oceania, too - Indian movies are more popular than Korean.
Just let everyone consume and enjoy what they want without comparing and determining which is more popular or dominant.
I mean, we all know that Taylor Swift and the Eras tour are the pinnacle of global pop culture. What's the point. š j/k
