Why exactly was Pathan such a huge hit?

Finally watched it and lost my remaining brain cells.

It's Siddharth Anand's worst movie to date. Simply a huge waste of time.

I still don't understand why it became such a huge hit.

Was it only because of SRK? and Deepu? Was it just bcoz of the casting?
